Head unit issues

Hi people, just bought a 106 gti yesterday, its got a sony head unit in it which is giving me the following problems..

A) I cannit get it out. Any suggestions?

B) It doesnt save settings or anything. I previously had this problem in my corsa c which was resolved by swapping round a red and yellow cables on the iso. Which cables do i need to change this time?

a) depends what one, either 2 knives or coat hanger

b) same wires

generally if I can't get them out its a case of unscrewing the front and then removing it from the inside out.. if you get me.
Some of the older sony's had locating pins on the top and bottom of the set to locate it in the cage. Other newer sony's have two locators mid height on the very right and very left of the set... get the appropriate keys for it it'll be a breeze
