    Default XSi 1.6 8v Diablo Red

    My diablo red XSi to replace the Quiksilver

    Goes well, quick but drinks a lot of juice. Needs a bit of TLC, didnt cost a lot so hopefully when i'm finished with it it'll be worth a fair bit more.

    Plans:

    * White Comp2 Alloys
    * Lower 35mm
    * Induction Kit, Manifold, Quickshift and Pugsport
    * Get the flaking laquer sorted and Repair Bumper

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Pics
    Out with the old, in with the older

    Removed original airbox, and fitted raceland. Not straight forward, as there are 3 breather pipes and an air temperature sensor. Did attempt a custom way of attaching everything but ended up buying breather filters!

    Before excuse the arrows

    After

    To Do:
    * Respray
    * Speedline Comp2 alloys - sell Khans
    * Debadge Read
    * De Wiper rear
    * Lower 25-30mm

    yeah, just attached filters to the 3 breather pipes. The pipercross ones come with crappy plastic things, so your best off buying some jubilee clips.

    The air temp sensor with a push, fits into the side of the raceland, which i think its what its designed for.

    By the way, for that to fit, you need a grinder, and a lot of trial and error!!

    I had to grind the front quite a lot (as you can probably tell to the bottom right where it isnt straight), and a lot on the left by the sparks and the battery.

    This should in theory fit perfectly, but dont hold me to that http://www.kam-racing.com/product_in...products_id/71

    UPDATE - 17th June 2007

    * Car went to FCS as above but with the Speedline Comp 2s (£440).
    * No expense spared, comp 2s had Toyo Proxes T1S all round (£216).
    * Bought brand new Pioneer stereo (£170) all with ipod connection yesterday
    * Bought Spax 40mm springs, hopefully it'll be lowered for Shakespeare National Day (£70)
    * Finally, I bought some tailor made carpets with Xsi logos on in red with black outline which came today (£70) which look fucking spot on, well chuffed with them. Got them from Autostyle.co.uk, well worth asking them for a group buy! Much better than standard mats http://autostyle.co.uk/
    * De badged the rear, the 'Peugeot' and the '106' but left the XSi on. I want people to see that, its the top of the range for that year so want to show it off :P lol

    Spent over £900 in the last month, so need to keep bank statements away from my mum lol. Bidding for some things on ebay, wont say what as I dont want people outbidding me You'll soon see if I win!

    Pics to follow when I can get hold of digi camera.

    Things to do now:
    * Lower 40mm
    * De Wiper

    get an s1! Track it, you wont regret it, even the 1.4s are putting out 95hp, and they will be lighter and hten when you strip it, great power to weight!

    I fitted the raceland using a grinder and a lot of trial and error!! lol

    It takes a bit of chopping for a quiksilver, but takes a lot more chopping for the xsi due to the coil pack and battery being in the way and it doesnt sit nicely on the front. If i didnt have this kit alreay, i would've bought a VTR or 206 one instead, but I had the 106 and it had no real resale value so i chopped it up! lol

    Quick Picture Update

    Quick update with the pics from the previous thread. I bought two things from FCS which I forgot about, heatwrap and a normal parcel shelf without 6x9's in so thats another £25. I'm putting the prices of everything in here so I can add it all up in a few years and see the ridiculous amount spent on it.

    * The comp 2's on the car and the debaged rear. Need to Tcut the print that the badges left on the paint.

    * Bought some heatwrap from a chap at FCS for manifold, need to find a guide how to put it onto a manifold properly, these sorts of things i tend to do badly but we'll see

    * The Pioneer stereo

    * The mats - put them in, they aint the greatest fit in the world and are a bit too bright red at the moment but that'll change over time when the colour fades

    Things to do now:
    * Lower 40mm
    * De Wiper
    * Heatwrap Manifold
    * Put manifold and Pugsport zorst on
    * Get paint sorted

    And most importantly:
    * 106Owners stickers

    Cheers for the comments appreciated

    Needs work doing though, pics dont show imperfections.

    * Need to sort the roof, the laquer flaking
    * Mirrors are badly colour coded.
    * Front bumper is cracked
    * Rear badges have left mark, tried t-cutting, no success
    * Needs de wipering

    And finally,
    * Needs 16 valves lol Cant see engine holding up much longer (blessing in disguise )

    Updateage
    * Manifoldage + Pugsportage = Picture Whorage

    Fitted raceland and pugsport t'other day. Find with these engines they are crap til they hit 4500rpm, feel like a 1.1 up until that point but the breathing mods lessen the pain! Its at 60 in a very short time, still could do with more top emd pull, already bored of the power lol those throttle bodies have got me seriously thinking.

    * Manifoldage (soon to have heatwrap if all goes to plan)

    * Pugsportage

    * Also bought some pioneer speakers to replace the utterly useless standard ones, need to get some spades to fit them connections.

    Have been treating her to meguiars cleaning products, cant believe how much difference it makes! Really is better than the supermarket shit i used to use.

    Umm, could be a janspeed! Not sure TBH, came off my cousins rallye (tom-rallye or hatton on the RR) and think he said it was a raceland.

    Needs to be heatwrapped definatley, going to give it a clean though I think anyways.

    Look forward to Xsi v Rallye, James. Cant wait to beat you lol

    LOL ste, they'd suit a white Gti really nicely i'm sure, theres a set of ebay mate for cheap, a chap off the RR, theyre brand new, do a search mate

    Whats the raceland like? much of a noticeable differnce? because ive got a K&N atm and love the noise but would consider a raceland if its gonna make a good difference in performance.
    yeah noticeable difference, definatley felt like it had more power. Certainly worthy investment, just a bit of a bad fit.

    LOL you got a GE quickshift?

    I best get polishing for improved aerodynamics and fold the rear seat down for less weight pressure

    next on list is to redo the mirrors, sort the laquer out, might give it a full respray next year and then 16v it one day or TB it. Not too sure TB'ing a 120k engine would be wise, anyone know? The sound of a TB'd 8v though makes you spunk.

    If the car give me hassle though its going to be tracked i reckon, its not worth a lot, so rag it about a track every now and again and get a sensible car for work etc when the time comes.

    yeah, i am swinging towards TB's, although it wont be in the next year or so i'm prity sure (being at uni). Sound of TBs on an 8v is the greatest sound ever lol

    Sorry people, ain't been with my car much and forgot about this progress blog.

    Club29 - I have a standard radio, but no clarion CD player for sale soz.

    Right... Theres a slight dilemna with this.

    I'm going to need a work car when I finish uni for the sort of jobs I'll be going after. Something like a VW golf or Leon, maybe an older 3-series.

    However, the car is only worth a few hundred quid. Its not a minter by any stretch of the imagination, so in preparation for the FCS and for a few years after, TRACK IT

    So, in the summer, get the cam in, maybe a 1.1 gearbox as this one is on its way out. Strip all the shite out and get some serious weight saving going.

    Then when the 8v dies...

    I don't often say things then don't go through with them without good reason, so you can hold me to this in the summer.

    Track slag (hopefully) on its way. Some might not like doing this to an XSi, but in truth, its a rattly, uncomfy old thing, its got character but isn't a mint XSi.

    Plans now:
    * Fit cam
    * Brakle upgrade (283mm)
    * Shocks on front and upgrade rear torsion bar
    * Strut braces upper and lower
    * Gearbox

    As I've finished Uni, and am at home can update!!

    * Got the brakes, 283mm lucas calipers off a GTi-6. Want these on before FCS as going on track. Got some mintex brakes and pads on order and will be getting seom braided hoses from Swampy next week.

    * Stripped the rear, just need to move the seat belts when I figure out how to get at them lol.

    Clutch is slipping, going to sort that out before FCS. Then will be looking at suspension (B8's ) and buckets.

    Will get some pics up soon, but left PC connector from fone at Uni.
