Right...

Thought it was about time to get one of my own progress blogs up. Not much has happened yet, but i'm just aiming for subtle mods really.

Here goes....

Bought my car back in October '06

A 1998 R - Peugeot 106 Quiksilver
Had 100,000 miles on the clock, which i thought was alot
After looking around though, i found it was about average for the age etc...
Bodywork was in top condition, as was the interior.
Was completley standard with no mods at all :)
And ended up paying £800. Which i thought was a bargain, as i've seen the same aged cars with the same mileage go for sometimes twice that.

First thing i did, was clean and polish the outside and interior ;)

Next job was to de-wiper and de-badge the boot. I'd seen quite a few people had done it, and thought i'd give it a go.

Was really happy with how much better the car looked when i'd finished! :)

I was then badly in need of some rimmage. :(
Thought about OZ ultraleggera's, but couldn't justify spending that much money on the car when i couldn't even drive.
So bought a set of GTi rims from Dan for £140.

I was amazed at how much different the car looked. Just made it look so much better! A big thanks to Dan for all his help.

Cheers lads
Looks like you have the same problem as me with the drivers door handle - it doesnt spring back into place properly after you open the door :P

Lol! Yup, tried WD40, but wasn't having any of it :-\

After i got the new wheels, I started to get bored of the way it looked again

So i decided to remove the door pilllar strips, and the stickers on the door handles.

I had those bulbs in my old lights and the difference was only slightly different. Wich was a shame!

When i bought new healdight si couldnt use them so my mate came round and i wanted to do a liittle test....
Replaced an original bulb for the halfords...walked 50ft back and we could see NO difference.

Anygay good progress mate, coming along nice.

Cheers matey.

It's weird that you couldn't notice a difference. Mine are so much better now. I think it's just because the old bulbs were absolute shite!

James -

I'm gonna keep the GTi rims on the car for a bit longer than i thought, so if I go down 60mm on 14's, it's gonna scrape like a bastard on all the roads around where I live. Also, when i get my Pug Sport, i don't want it getting bashed and ripped off.

ah see what you mean mate. allthough it wouldnt be as bad as you thourght because the eibachs are ~50mm for the GTi so bit less than that on the quicky and the pugsport can be strapped up ;)

but 40mm is good. and get a pugsport asap... ;):p

I'll more than likely end up goin lower than 40mm anyway, like you said, with 50mm springs it should be ok.

As for the Pug Sport.......... im workin on it matey. ;)

Right....

THe cars been pretty neglected lately to be fair. Not had any time at all to do any work to it. So i booked myself 2 weeks off work and got cracking with some cleaning.

But firstly..... I wanted to fit my new quickshift, £30 from Freedo.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r247/jimbo_6989/quickshift2.jpg

Took the centre console out, bought some fibreglass and started making a custom mould to house the window switches.... I'll put some pictures up when it's finished.

Then i went James G style and had a little cleaning sesh.
Nowhere near as clean as his, but after about 2hours i got the bottom of the car looking like this...

I started to get bored of the way the car was looking again so decided to strip the back out.....

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r247/jimbo_6989/stripped1.jpg

Still don't know whether i'll keep it like this long term but if i did aa set of bucket seats and some four point harnesses could be on their way. ;)

Next job was just to tidy the back up a bit........ So cleaned the arches and linings and sanded down the drums and just went over them with some black Hammerite. Just short term whilst I look for a GTi rear beam.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r247/jimbo_6989/cleanedrear.jpg

Next job is to do the same to the front arches and struts. Then have a go at fitting the 40mm Springs.

After a quick clean...

Cheers matey... :)

Aye the car sounds so much nicer without the back seats.

Could just be the extra noise but the car definatley seems to pull better in 2nd with some of the weight taken out. Reckon i must of saved about 80 kilos with losing the back seats and spare wheel + cage.

Thanks Luke. :)

To be fair i did spend about an hour on the arches getting them spotless, for it to f**king rain and get covered in shit again. :(

everyone says that, but just think once it has been done once, then all you have to do is a quick power-wash every few days/week and your sorted.

Yeah...me and Luke were having this conversation, like you said though if you do it properly once, all you have to do is keep on top of it with the jet wash. :)

Only problem is, all my mates do actually think i'm quite sad.

Well then.......................

My cleaning obsession really has seemed to have taken over most of my spare time. I've been at work everyday for about the past month so not really had a chance to do alot to the car.

However............... i did have Tuesday morning off work/college so got down to cleaning and respraying the front arches and struts. Took about two hours to do the whole of the front end but i was pretty pleased with how it turned out to be fair.

Not alot more money to be spent on the Quiky really, just spraying the mirrors and fitting a GTi spoiler then sell up in the next month.

So if anyone one fancies a cheap Quiksilver.....PM me :)
