Right then guys/gals

The club has been running now for over 7 months, we have gone from a handful of members to over 1700
We have had a very succesfull first show and have even organised our very own national day in just over a month

I have recently been sorting out job roles for all the staff, and organising a few new moderators. Now the club is this large I want to spend my time planning the clubs future

So.. I am very interested to hear your feedback on a few matters

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?

And generally anything else that you have on your mind

I cant promise to reply to everything - but I am going to read every post on here over the next month and will take it all on board when we move forward with the site :)

Thanks!

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?

*I think there could be more guides, but considering we write them for others thers nothing you can do about that Phil, but i do like the idea of a dedicated "how-to" section, could be useful

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?

*i think that the forum layout is generally very very good, everything is in its place. perhaps a spam area so threads about crap can be easily managed, although thats gonna be make it easier for moderators to deal with, rather than for casual users to spam

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?

*No problems everyone is friendly and helpful, not techy enough sometimes, adult chat is fine after all this is a car forum so nobody too young should be on here, but i'd suggest an 18+ warning on some threads lol. Freedom from other forums??? never had this much freedom keep this up!

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?

*Yep, and probably same as this years

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?

*Yeah everything is great, discount i haven't used yet but they will be there if i need them, more discount? unless you can get us 50% discount with Flux i'm happy

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?

*Stickers in white/silver and black. 106 owners sunstrips (lol) someone will want them (not me personally but thinking of others), Fake aero dynamic polish bottles, we can use to put drinks etc in, god that would be a laugh.
In fact that would be ace to sell to people at shows!

And generally anything else that you have on your mind

YOU need to chill out Phill, you car can be fixed, so less of the "i'm breaking it for parts" nobody wants you to say that unless you finish it with "cos i'm getting a new engine put in"

Keep up the good work

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?

Can't think of anything needed atm.

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?

The only suggestion I would make here is moving the photoshop section to the 106 related forums or somewhere where it is more visible, as I've often seen photoshop requests in the general 106 fourm (which I have done myself when I first joined).

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?

I think the atmosphere is fine. There is occasionally a bit of spammage but I don't think you can really prevent that, and its not really OTT. Adult chat doesn't bother me and like Chris said, its a car forum so most people should be old enough for it anyway.

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?

There are plenty events to go to, although havn't managed to go to one yet.

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?

Insurance groups and possibly places like halfords would be useful things to have discounts with if its possible. I only paid up to support the club, the discounts are something I probably won't use. Well not on this car anyway.

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?

I think most of it has already been mentioned like tax disc holders etc, but if something else comes to mind I'll post it up.

And generally anything else that you have on your mind

I like toast. (They aren't all winners.)

LOL cheers

Yes the 4 letter min word search is a bit rubbish due to the fact that things like 106, gti, xsi etc.. are all 3 letters. However its sort of a limitation of the database the forum uses rather than the forum - I'll look into it and see if I can improve the search system

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?

The forum is the best forum i have been on, it is always buzzing with members both day and night. As for a dedicated "HOW-TO" section, tbh its kind of already been done, alot of members have already published their own style ones, and these are more helpfull than the Haynes manuals etc, so these could just be pulled together into one Section entitled "How-to...."

We just need to cut down on the CHAT aspect of the site? We have MSN and PM's etc for chatting to people, i kno its hard and we all seem to get lost into it once and a while, just an idea??
2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?

The forum layout is ok for me, but mayb change the colour scheme? Mayb try to get it a bit more modern? a bit more classy? (www.pure-tuning.co.uk (http://www.pure-tuning.co.uk)), This site is one my mates designed, it looks snazzy and fluid, with nice graphics and quick speed. But we want our own theme n style, dnt get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the site as it is now, but mayb its time for a lil face lift? lol the old girl is gettin older.

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?

The forum atmosphere is spot on, its really is,there is no confrontation or anything, everyone seems o get along n is pasionate about their cars. This is the perfect place to be for a 106 owner. It has a full range on people from newbies knowing nothing about cars right up to the advanced mechanics who can practially name every pipe n screw in the car. So no one feels intimidated or patronised, because everyone seems to relate to everyone.....(we all were young once!)

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?

As the new regional leader for the WEST MIDLANDS, i myself am trying my best to arrange many meets to encourage people to show off and share their cars with us all, i am very much an open minded person and love to see other ideas, so meets, shows, cruises, what ever is available is always on the cards for me.

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?

((Havent Paid yet....Will do when i am paid at work))

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?

Air fresheners, T-Shirts, Hoodies, Jackets, SunStrips, Laminated n photo Member cards, and how about a custome theme or something for us...im sure the site has a few budding DJ's out there, mayb we cud have a music intro for the home page? Just an idea?

And generally anything else that you have on your mind

DISCOUNTS - lol i kno it was in a previous question, but i wanted to put it here cuz im stubborn like dat lol

How about we do more group buys? With over 1500 member there will always be people wanting to buy parts and supplys from us, there are two main categories i cant think of, AUDIO and STYLING and CAR PARTS.

Have we tried contacting places such as MOTORQUIP or even Peugeot main dealers them selves? Being such a big group like we are mayb we can arrange for some decent bargains or group discounts? There will always be a demand for car parts and spares as thats just how it goes.

What you think Phil???

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?
i like the sound of that dedicated "how to" section so then its easier to find the help you need and prob wont be so many re-posts of the same thing, part from that its preety much perfect

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?
dont think we need anymore, maybe some more brakedown links for each catergory. like the general chat section being split up

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?
i love the atmosphere you can preety much say what you want (to a certain extent obviously), and it just makes you feel more fee when talkin to other people

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?
have not been to a show yet but hopefully will do in 2008 wen car is dun a bit more. never had a regional event down here since i been on here. but is not rly major

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?
yes i love the discounts. who wouldnt. but yer would like to see a few more so we can have a wide range of products to choose from. i saw a thread earlier of a new company registering on here and opening a thread bout themselves so many they could be a new 1 to have. somebody may have contacted them but not sure

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?
not sure suprise me. :)

mat_106
09-08-2007, 02:36 PM
^ ye sort that out, more and more threads about it keep popping up now and again, apart from that i think the forum is great only i wish we could have a tax disc holder in the shop ;)

but to be honest phil you've done a great job getting this up and running to its standards now (and all the other people that have helped) i can honestly say its the best forum ive been on, not only because its about 106's but the quality and how nice everybody is to each other, its great :D

keep it up :)

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?

it has everything to the need i would like phil, nice friendly club which i'm proud to be a part of. A 'how to do...' section would be good for the likes of people that aint sure on fitting a part etc, and i'm liking the idea of the reviews it would be like try before you buy but other people try it lol

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?

yes deffiantly, everything seems to be fine, i can find things easy enough

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?

the forum has some great people to speak and meet at shows which makes the atmosphere great, but i don't agree with all the spam, the subjects get changed pretty rapid (i have done it in the pastl) but it ends up with a topic of 14 pages long. Text talk takes me twice as long to read a topic! nothing ever offends me on this forum unless it was something aimed personally to me which has never happened yet. there is a great deal more freedom on here than other sites i'm on and it is way better.

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?

the shows and regional meets i've been to were great and i can't think of any more to suggest !!!!

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?

yeah the discounts are helping me to get my GTi ready before i have the car lol, the only othe company i could think of is Peugeot its self :p nah but seriously i think there is a wide variety and they are all good :)

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?

i would love to see polo shirts or some type of clothing and air freshener!!!

And generally anything else that you have on your mind

yeah one thing thanks to the club staff and phil :)

I think I wil answer...

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?
From what I have seen on the forum, what I need is all there... The How to section would be good and a place to comment on products etc would be a minted idea... Overall a very helpful forum so far!!!

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?
Everything seems to be in the right place... I can find stuff without really having to think about where it will be... I just use my head and teh search tool!!!

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?
The forum is great... Obviously I will hold my hands up and say I spam to much but apart from that, nothing has offended me... It's always good to see a friendly arguement now and again... I can definitely say I get on well with everyone on thsi forum and teh meets have definitely helped!!!

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?
The meets are great... I have enjoyed all the ones I have been to already... In terms of National Events; if there are enough of us going then I would definitely tag along if I ain't busy!!!

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?
The discounts are very useful and it will be even better to see more pay up the membership fee... How many do we currently have paid up???

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?
Whatever you have in mind... Black stickers is a defo... I want a Polo-Shirt:D... I'll be tempted to buy most of te stuff you get in anyway... Nothing on my mind at the moment though!!!

And generally anything else that you have on your mind.
I'm just glad to be a member of one of teh best forums around, if not teh best!!!

Hope my answers help Phil!!!

I've updated the rules page to include the speeding rule and the off-topic rule

I am also going to recruit a couple of new moderators this week with the sole job of keeping threads on topic and in the right forums!!

Thanks for the feedback - keep it coming :)

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?

I think its ok, maybe more of a reviews section - with the product name as the title of a new thread then people can view others people's opinions in posts with out it getting messy, then people can easily search for a product theyre thinking of using?

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?

yup, the only problem i have is remembering where ive seen a post about something lol

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?

Atmosphere is good but it seems to be changing, with people thinking other people are having a go when theyre actually not, and those people who do have a go. I think that there defo should be more mods and more punishments given out :)

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?

There is no North Wales regional leader, or a thread for us in the regional events section (unless ive missed something) and we have had a fair few meets, just not many pics lol. I think we should at least have a thread thing like the others.

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?

Yeah they are, but a discount with an insurance company would be great, but im sure you're sorting this one out?

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?

Tax disc holder
key ring
t shirts
fleeces
hot pants a la fuzzy orange lol

And generally anything else that you have on your mind

Well, if you could get me a job thatd be ace, but as far as the forum is concerned, nothing just ts very addictive and well done Phil and all the other staff!! :D

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?

how about a chat room type thing that opens as a seperate window like pm's do so that we can all have a natter in there rather than on threads?

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?

seems ok, but the 4 letter search thing blows chunks

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?

its all good, not quite as much freedom as the rr but some of the topics on there wouldnt be appreciated by girls so i think we have the right balance

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?

nah the yorkshire regional leaders are crap! lol

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?

i only paid a tenner cos there was rumour pics of laceys bum had been posted in the members section! she told me that herself, i think it was a trick, but "bum" is too short for the search function

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?

huge stickers for mine and marks rear quarter panels

And generally anything else that you have on your mind

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?
has everything i want or need as far as i can think of. the 'how to section would be good and if more people made more guides would be cool. also the thread of problems i suggested-the FAQ section you started could be useful. product reviews seem a good idea in the tech section

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?
i love the simple-ness of the forum. dont like loads o fancy flashing crap or adverts. think theres the right amount of categories. maybe the tech sections could be split into more, such as 1 brakes, 2 suspension, 3 engine, etc. just an idea. could get too cluttered though. the search feature could be a bit more user friendly with the option to search titles straight away in stead of 'advanced search' and the 3 letter limit could be lifted. but great all in all.

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?
i love the freedom and the feel and atmosphere of the forum. its like a big family, ahhh, group hug!? sometimes a bit too much spam and the same jokes but its all good fun and i wouldnt change it. i think smileys are over-used but thats my stupid personal opinion.

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?
not been one in my area yet as far as i know but hopefully jimbo will sort it soon. FCS was the best. trax will be good. pugfest would be good. FCS mainly though. and 106owners national day will be awesome

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?
discounts are useful, but the more the better. more with pug1off maybe

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?
tshirts, tax disk holders, more stickers. tshirt would be wicked though

And generally anything else that you have on your mind

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...? the site and forum are spot on have pretty much everything you could need and everything is easy to find.a review section would be good addition same with some "how to" guides

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want? plenty of caregories and everything is piss easy to find the only thing thats shit is the search and the 4 letter thing it really does my head in when you come to search for stuff

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you? theres a really friendly happy atmosphere on here its great alot of other forums should take note, the fact that its abit more adult orientated is good aswell you can have abit more of a laugh and the freedom thats allowed on here is great and adds to the friendly atmosphere.there can be abit too much spam at times a shout box down at the bottom might sort that out though IMO

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008? the event we attend as a site are cool and probally two of the better ones to go to as for regional events i'll get my finger out of my arse and get some more going for the northwest i promise just have alot of things on at the moment with my car work and college sorry guys :o

5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with? not really used any of the discounts yet but i'd say they are usefull theres a good selection of companies there a few more performance orientated ones would be cool though like qep or somewhere like that

1) The website and forum. Does it have everything you need/want?
Would you like to see a dedicated "how-to" section or a reviews section with product reviews etc... etc...?
The forum has pretty much everything I want, however, a product reviews section sounds quite useful, as it could let others know what products to buy, or even, places to go for products/work doing to their car.

2) The forum layout. Are all the categories in the right place? Are there enough categories or are there too many? Can you always find the info you want?
Everything seems easy enough to find, and the categories seem split up well enough for it not to become complicated to find a certain section

3) The forum atmosphere. Is the forum a nice place for you to chat? Do you feel its too techy based or do you feel theres too much spam? Does the adult-orientated chat ever offend you or do you enjoy the freedom that other forums may not allow you?
The forum atmosphere is something that I am particularly pleased with, its great, everyone is really friendly and I personally feel there is the right amount of tech talk, mixed with general chat to keep the forum alive, the adult-oriented chat has never offended me, and can sometimes be one of the things that seperates this forum from more strict forums.

4) Are there enough regional events in your area? Are the national events we attend enough? Which national events would you like to us have a stand at during 2008?
I don't think there are enough regional events in my area, however, that may just be because of its akwardness... sort of on the notts, yorkshire border... however there still seem to be plenty of regional meets. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to attend any national events with the club as of yet, but again, there seems to be plenty that the club attends, the only show I could possibly like a stand at next year, is USC, as its such a big show (I know this may not be possible, due to the size of the show.)
5) For those of you who are paying members.. are the discounts useful? Are there other companies you would like to see us get a discount with?
Not yet a paying member, but I agree on discounts with places like halfords, etc. if poss.

6) Merchandise.. what would you like to see in the shop over the next few months?
Tax disc holders, t-shirts, key rings.

And generally anything else that you have on your mind
A great environment to be a part of, congrats to Phil, and everyone else who is a part of the ever growing community.
