Well....bought a new sub and amp from Luke.

Got it fitted all wired up correctly and it worked fine, this was on saturday.

Tuesday, I disconnected the wires so i could run them under the boot carpet and mounted the sub and amp in properly. Wired it all up again and now the bastard thing won't work. Had 15 of us at the pub the other night all trying to sort the thing out. Tested it all with a voltmeter and everythings got enough power running to it. The green light on the amp is on so it means that theres power to that and thers a good earth. Bought some new phono output leads and made no difference. I know i've not blown the sub because it worked on my mates amp and i know the amp still works because my mates sub ran from my amp. Really have no idea with electrics because they do my head in. :)

Anyhelp is greatly appreciated.

Peace x

Something to think about...Because you have now fed it under the carpet onto the bare metal, are any of the wires not properley insulated, so therefore something could be shorting out somewhere? Id wrap all of the wire joints (if any) in electrical tape again to make sure!

If this is a load of b*****ks then dont listen to me! Just thought id throw my two cents in?

Cheers,

Alex

haha electrics are a right bitch,

not sure if this will help but anyway....

make sure the speakers are wired up properly, mine broke 4 times last week, because the standard peugeot wiring was shite, so i replaced it - been sounding great ever since :)

apart from that, fuses?

Check the connections on the sub, also are the wires run tight maybe when the sub is hooked up the pull apart?

Cheers boys.

All the wiring is sound (excuse the pun) as far as i know because otherwise the amp wouldnt turn on I wouldn't of thought. Speakers are ok i think because i can still listen to music, just without the sub.

Pow - Connections on the sub are ok i think. Wires dont run too tight and everythings wired up correctly.

Really fucked off that it won't work lol.

lol :p

what amp do you have mate? and headunit?

The gain is the voltage control (when you increase it it gives the sub more power thus making it louder, however its NOT a volume control!) If this is turned right down (might have caught it?) then it will be feeding it minimal power so might not hear it..

The filters are usually high pass, low pass and (stereo on some amps). This needs to be set on low pass (obviously for low frequencys (bass) :p )

Is there an option to turn the sub on/off on the headunit?

Splx amp, with Kenwood head unit.

I've got no idea how to work the head unit settings either, had a look in the manual yesterdy and it just confusled me. :(

I'll have a look later on mate. :)

Thanks for the help.

Now i'm off to realease the chocolate hostage.

Peace. X

Yeah could be matey.

i'll double check tonight.

i'd ban myself from this forum if they were mind.

Checked that today mate. The remote was in fine, amp works aswell and with a dodgy remote wire it wouldn't I don't think.

Cheers though.

remotes fine if the amp switches on.

speaker connections wont make a diffrence either, just means the sub will be playing in phase or out of phase

if uve checked all ur wires with a voltmeter then it rules out earth and remote wires
.ur amp would still turn on sometimes tho even with a bad earth just wont run the sub itself.
only thing really is check the wires on the voice coil of the sub and goin from the sub to the edge of the sub box sometimes even if they are conected the solder could still be damaged slightly and stop it working.
and as said above make sure no wires have slits in te cable casing! and check u havent turned ur gain down when takin it out before.
apart from that m8 im really not sure.

I knew you were slightly retarded Jimbo, but who cant use there headunit!!

You best have it working for USC mate! Cant got to a chav fest without the PIMPIN TUNESSS BOIIII! ha ha (joke)

My money is on the gain being turned down, or if your headunit has an option to turn the sub on/off like mine does.

either way, your a retard!

...love you really, kiss kiss x
