as the weather was good today i thought i'd spend the afternoon giving my gti a good clean.

everything was going well until i tried to clean the underside of my bonnet. i saw steve_106gti at fcs and the underside of his bonnet was spanking. i gave mine a good clean with soap and water but i just couldn't seem to get it clean.

i ve never attemped to clean it before so it might be a tough job.

what i wanna know is what products etc can i use to get it looking good again.

Its awesome!

I use mainly for my arches and engine bay

Spray it on. Can aggitate it if you want. Leave it 5-10 mins and wash off..works a treat.

It comes in a few different containers...but look out for the Spray can .works really well :)

Top tip mate. If you have paintwork underneath your bonnet that has grime on it, give it a clean with usual hot water / shampoo combo to get as much off as you can, then shammy it dry. Get some Autosol metal / chrome cleaner (available from all good car shops), then aplly it with a clean cloth and rub it over the areas that are dirty (ensure you rub it in well). Use a different clean dry cloth to wipe it off. It will get all the gunk off that you haven't been able to get off before. Also leaves your paintwork nice and shiny.

Best thing is soapy water some gunk and spend some time on it :)

Back to black for the plastics..black pipes etc...polish up the slam panel..paintwork etc

See pic below on how its done properly lol!!!!:p:D

I use autosol on the slam panel and paintwork in the engine. Also, consider trying smooth peanut butter on the black trim. The oils in it make it come up a treat (serious!).

Sprayed Gunk on and left and for 10 mins, wiped off, got some back to black on the arch liners and then applied some Megs NXT to the inside to protect em :)

this has just turned to a ASW thread hahah...

peedee - fair play your bay is clean but its isnt THAT clean, i can still see dirt on it from that pic, and i should imadgin theres even more in places you cant see. i know a few peoples that are spotless, i mean nothing left untouched and i never here them ranting about how spotless there bay is.

NO NO NO..!!! You've got it wrong Andy..!!! :p

Yes, my bonnet has been resprayed, but only the outside of it... The underside has remained the same as the factory paint... They didn't respray the underneath.... :)

I've just always kept the underside clean... Never had to use anything special to get it like it is... Just wax it.. :)

go to your nearest BMW showroom and ask for one of the valeters (not the brainless gorms that walk round senseless with a dirty chammy, the proper full valeters) best time is a saturday usually. ask them for some 100% pure tar and glue and 100% pure TFR use either or both of these and its the best thing ever but dont leave it on the paintwork too long(dont know what would happen if anything just dont haha) rub it in with a cloth and you will see the dirt dissintegrate!!! make sure its 100% not watered down you cannot buy it anywhere, watered down stuff is still stronger than what you can buy from the shops (intentive tar remover - auto glym) but the 100% stuff is the muttz nutz, i got hold of some and done some of my mates car with what was left to show him hes on the forum, edamski il get him to post his opinion of it up. word of warning though, it looks like water....... DO NOT INHALE IF YOUR USING A SPRAY BOTTLE lol good luck with finding it if you do youl see what i mean !!!

Steve sorry mate thought it had been painted by looking at it, the paint under my bonnet looks a lot flatter and smoother than yours so just presumed yours had a extra layer of paint on it :)
