View Full Version : Mounting Tweeters in the A pillars

Would it be advisable to mount the crossovers somewhere in/underneath the dash, cutting into the wires for the speakers and wiring upwards into the pillars

OR

Wiring the crossovers into the armsrests, then running the wires back through the standard wiring 'tube' between the door and the rest of the car.

Second option preferable, but how easy would it be to run two wires for the tweeter through the rubber and into the car, then up into the A pillars? Any tips?

Just want to avoid drilling new holes into my car :D

Also, advice on either These (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/4696.html) or These (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/4889.html) or These if im feeling rich (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_catalogId_10151_storeId_10001_partNumber_9 33325_langId_-1#dtab)

The VIBE's sounded nice in Halfords and should easily be powerful enough (90W RMS!!)

Speakers will be amped at 60W RMS @ 4 ohms, or in the JBL's case, 80W RMS @ 2 ohms ;)

Cheers

do it the first way, honestly it's enough of a bitch as it is, mine are just in place with the mounts screwed in with the wire hidden down the back, and it looks decent enough, so if you're doing it properly, it'll look perfect. Just hide the crossovers under dash or you'll be giving yourself an extra 2 weeks worth of work, I can garantuee

I sent my leccy windows wiring through the door rubbers no worries, shouldnt be a problem. Putting the crossovers in the foam behind the armrest is a good idea, though i imagine you could store them under the dash, might make things more awkward in the long run though.

i wired my crossover in between the head unit and where it connects to the wiring loom, cut the wire coming from the head unit and into the crossover, then wire the woofer output back up to behind the head unit and into the other end of the wire you cut. That way you dont touch your wiring loom and if when you sell the car just put the old head unit back in and it will work fine without having to do anymore work.

I then put the crossovers under the dash and used sticky pads, lots of them lol.

I had all Vibe stuff in my 1.1 and I was really impressed, wasnt ridiculously expensive and did the job, so i'd advise those.
