hey there!

quite recently my quiksilver has developed some sort of wizzing noise which increases in pitch the more revs you give it. As far as i can tell, the sound seems to disappear after around 2.5k revs but im not sure if its just getting drowned out by exhaust or what not. I was asked if it disappears when i put the clutch down as it could be the gearbox, but it doesnt - it just stays at the same moaning noise...
MOT on wednesday so i might just get it looked at then.
I spose it could be a ton of different problems but has any one had a similar problem? could it be something really nasty?
It doesnt affect the performance, its almost like a whistle... maybe from my induction kit.
ugh god knows
let me know thoughts! :)

Ive got this too, from passenger front end, sounds almost like a metal grinding whiney whistle. have had wheels n brakes looked over, but NOTHING. Noise sill persists! Im just waiting for what ever it is to break! Ive been told it could be many things, my most likely thought is a leak from manifold/cat or weld around lambda probe :P i just cant affor my manifold yet >:(

Could also be driveshaft related??, mine seems to go on acceleration (could be drowned out) and return on deceleration throughout the gears

Thirdly was told maybe a leak at manifold gasket, but the noise definitely is not from that way, more front wheel gearbox location >:(

Im following the old rule if it aint broke ....

wooo its guess that random noise game! Pug 106s have cack gear boxes and when they are on there way out they make a wizzing noise.

Just a thought

Make sure its not ur speakers, sometimes you get interferance with ur alternator, so youl have to get a supressor fitted or something. Then ide prob go about checkin the gearbox oil level, check the CV gaitors arnt split or not gone hard, also if its had a recent cambelt change make sure its not 2 tight, im pretty sure they are meant to be 32 seems units. A cambelt thats too tight will make a whining noise when you rev it. Check ur rollers and the cambelt tensioner aswell. Make sure you dont have an air leak ect. Try whippin the induction kit off and see if it makes a difference.

Scott.

yeh its defo not the speakers, the noise is louder when the bonnet is up.
im not sure about all the other things, im gonna take off the induction kit and see if its maybe whistling on something.
it had its cambelt changed in the summer i think so its probably not that... does have a new altinator though so maybe it could be the belt from that? doesnt seem too tight though...
im not much good under the bonnet so if its none of the things that youve mentioned (ones that i know how to check :P ) ill ask my mechanic dude.
thanks for the advice!
