Hi
Just got a 1996 106 for my daughter, The speedo has packed up and not moving at all. it was fine for the last few days. Any ideas of the problem and any fix that i could do myself or do i need to take it to the garage.

thanks

my 1996 speedo is on its way out too and i would like to know.. it conks out randomly and kicks back in randomly, usually starting from cold.

ive read its common for the speedo drive cable to die with 106's as they get older. other than that and what the haynes manual says, regarding replacing it i dont know if that would really be the cause untill i get around to changing it to see for sure.

i'll report back if i get around to it any time soon.

Its started working again. There seems to be some form of confusion between if it uses a speedo cable or a speed sensor. On searching the forum there are differing points of view. However i can only find cables for sale on the internet. I will have to check the car to see which one it is
