Lakes camping trip August

Right guys and gals thoughts on next meet was camping in the lakes

so here is what we've got so far

4th and 5th of august OR 25th and 26th depending on numbers

camping at Park Foot next to Lake Ullswater, just a few minutes walk away form Pooley Bridge.

the park has the following facilities


Licensed Bar and Restaurant
Breakfast and Takeaway meals
Beer Garden
Large Screen T.V.
Two Pool Tables
Table Tennis
Videogames Room
Juke Box
Discos & Entertainment
Newly Refurbished Toilets and Shower Facilities
Laundry Room
Car Wash (No excuses for having a dirty car on holiday!) :p
Mini Marketafter going up and having a look and speaking to staff we've been told we need a rough idea of numbers and also they prefer couples and mixed groups so drag as many of your girlfriends/boyfriends as you can along LOL also
they require a 10pound noise deposit so we'll have to be well behaved while on site

its 19 pound for a car and 2 adults

ideally we need a list of who wants to go up asap so we can get back intouch with them and arrange a booking


whats everyones thoughts on it then?

if your interested clio sport are doing a camp in august. its on there thread. there is a huge no of them going and there is no noise limit on that site. might be worth having a look which one it is and going there???
and forgot to say it is in the lakes. either that or wales. its really quiet there and could join up with people from north wales/midlands even south wales im sure people would be up for it cos its a two day thing??

well start and end of the month are the best over general because if people get paid monthly

fcs is just the same as trax because trax is a week after the end of august

i just put the end up aswell because it would give us more time to camp and more to do not just a day thing :) and people that live a fair bit away has expressed interest too

bank holiday is august 27th so i'm thinking if we aim to get there on friday evening then that gives us saturday and sunday to get a drive round the lakes and possibly take a drive up to hartside and grab some food at the cafe up there and get some good pics then that gives anyone with abit of travelling the monday to get home

Yes she is Adam... But teh other problem is large single sex groups... Som camp sites don't allow it and also a big car club makes camp sites think again... Ste told me that!!!

seen as were more than likely stopping on the bank hol weekend everywhere hikes the prices up, whats everyones thoughts on meeting up on the saturday lunch time set the tents up then hit the pub for some food and a afternoon in the beer garden, then on sunday go for a good long drive round the lakes. finishing up back at the camp site then head home on the monday!!!

right then massive update

after ringing up/visting every god damn campsite in the whole of the lakes i have some fairly shit news :( nowhere will take on a large group of people escpecially our age group we've both tried to blag it at quite a few sites but none of them will have it they are all family sites that'll happily take families or couples but NOT groups :mad:

this is really disappointing and frustrating as we both have spend ages over the last few weeks trying to find somewhere and only managing to find 3 sites that are ok with groups and even then there are problems

site 1 is ok with having us and is reasonbly priced but they have a list of rules and regulations a mile long and will more than likely kick us off an hour or two after we've got there which is what i dont want to happen so no point in bothering with that one

site 2 will be packed out with clio sport as they are doing the same thing the same weekend.before anyone says we could just change the dates this is the only weekend in august that me and shell can both make

site 3 is spot on,really nice has a pub within walking distance and is ok with having a large group but they'll only allow us up to six tents (as big as 6 man though) and as its bank hol weekend we'd have to stop for 3 nights and thats 60 quid which is a touch steep really IMO

so i think the camping trip wont be happening this time as every campsite owner seems to be against us due to past problems with big groups of us young'uns


whats everyones thoughts on a day away at the pleasure beach or alton towers instead? :) i know its not camping but hey

60 quid is fairly steep dan and with that site we are also limited to only 6 tents too and if the summer is going to carry on like it is we'll get washed away into one of the lakes halfway through the first night

if your goin to alton towers your basicaly in the peak district. so could try camping in the peak district?? plus you have some amazing roads for those who want a spin. the cat and fiddle, snake pass. dont know if anyones been down them but there very fun. just an option. alton towers has the splash landings water park if people dont like roller coasters. its half the price of alton towers its self and really good fun. and they have just built a 18 hole crazy golf right next to it. i think its about 3 pounds a go not sure tho. what do u think about that??

id be up for it if it was alton towers as its only an hour away, pretty good location for everybody really.

note about car park pics, we'd have to meet somewhere first as there are a few different car parks and you get ushered into them as you arrive, so you cant choose where to park

right then guys alton towers it is camping on a bank holiday will be mental as all the city folk want to come out into the middle of no where to get away from everything so places like the lakes and the peak district will be heaving so no chance of going for a decent drive

like mikey said everyone tends to avoid theme parks on the bank hols as everyone thinks it'll be packed and it isnt so alton towers it is and we'll do the camping early next summer when its quiter and theres no 3 night min stay or any of that shite
