Link for anyone who doesnt know who GE are..
http://www.griffiths-engineering.co.uk/
I can definatly recommend them as used one for nearly 2 years - but just upgraded to a combrake system which cost a lot more
If theres a lot of people interested you could try approaching them and organising a group buy
If you buy 10 or more he might do em at a lower price

me too sooner the better ;D
iim not actually sure what these do? can someone explain?
Dan C

They shorten the throw of your gear change, making them quicker.
Correct me if im wrong anyone.
oh right, so basically dont have to move your gear leaver as far then.
Fuzzy Orange
07-01-2007, 12:40 AM
Correct
The standard movement of the 106 gearshift is awful
These half the amount of forwards/backwards movement :)

Easy to fit Fuzzy?
Fuzzy Orange
07-01-2007, 12:54 AM
Not massively
You have to pop one of the gear linkages off at the back of the engine - then clip this bit on then reconnect it
Its not rocket science but I hear they dont come with instructions LOL
If you get one and get stuck mate you know where I am
Dan C
07-01-2007, 12:54 AM

Fitting doesnt seem tooo bad.
Dan C
07-01-2007, 03:06 AM
Ha Ha. What has banana banana banana got to do with a quikshift aswell lol
Nah it doesnt look that bad does it. The only problem im going to have fitting it is, not being able to raise the car off the ground enough i think. Dont know if you need that much access but ive only got a jack that comes in the spare tyre lol

07-01-2007, 03:09 AM
Ive had a look at that area around the gear linkages before theres a suprising ammount of room to work withif your cars not lowered nd your small short ass like me you might even be able to squeeze under when its not jacked up lol.
Dan C
07-01-2007, 03:11 AM
LMAO ill have to try that lol

Gods sake mate DO NOT lay under your car on that scissor jack
Its meant for changing a wheel at the side of the road - it aint very stable
If the car drops on you while your laid under th engine - its night night for you
Just pop over and do it at my house - i've got a trolley jack your welcome to borrow :)

07-01-2007, 01:23 PM
i dont know mate,
maybe if someone could be bothered to set one up, duno what GE would be like tho.
give them an email, say if we had over 10 people intrested in a bulk order would they concider discount :)
i cant see how that can make any differnece really, but i know it would do, maybe soemthing to do in the future :D looks simple enough, my gear linkage was replaced the other week anyway

No Such luck, thhis is the reply i got:
Thanks for the interest
Sorry no discounts are available
Rising prices of alloy and machining prevent any discounts

I have had mine for over a year now and it is a good mod for the cost.
When I got it it was £24 delivered. But as GE said alloy prices have gone up.
i got mine brand new for £15. its great
i got mine brand new for £15. its great

I can only say good things about them too, had mine for about half a year now I think and its such a great mod for the price. Something to keep you going if you haven't got much income, LOL.
Also, if I can fit it then anyone can, although it took me about 3 hours because I got locked out of my house with my car keys inside and my mum out...somewhere. I had to get a mate to pick me up and hunt for my mum ;D ;D The actually fitting only took about 20min though.

Gutted about the group buy. Oh well!
Looks easier to fit than i thought.
Laughed at the thought of lying under the car while its held up on scissor jack :)
The actual rod section that comes from below gear stick can that be upgraded too ?

All you need to fit is is a trolley jack prefereably to get under the car or a pit, a spanner (to get the linkages apart) and some grease.
i took me a while to get it on, well it ended up my old man fitting it coz i was putting it on the wrong way!! But it is quite straight forward really. There are instrucitons that come with it but they are very basic
wouldnt even go under a car with a trolly jack! seen many of them fail!!! only go under with axle stands guys!!!!!
Not worth risking getting hurt

very true raz... its always worth investing in some good stands aswell. iv got a set of 2 ton stands (each stand) and a set of 1.5 ton (which i use the most)..
scissor jack.. hahah..

bought my quiksilver with quickshifts already installed from mikey_b,
he insists its one of the better mods - i have to agree that it makes the car a hell of a lot of fun to drive, more racing style :D
although having not driven another 106 without them, i cant really comment!

I've had mine for aweek now, bought it for £25 brand new
Anyone got a guide/pics to fitting it???
Any probs I should look out for???
James.G
15-01-2007, 03:47 PM
theres a guid a few pages back mate. all you need is a ring spanner to pop the linkage out, insert the quickshit and your away :)
you help if the front was up on ramps aswell :)
