hi guys n gals,
been a while since i have been on the site, busy with job, kid n tryin to mod my 106.
to the point, i have droped my 1.1 lump, box n ecu out of my car and bolted in a 1.6 vtr lump in, plugged it in and it cranks the engine when i turn the ignition on, also i have 2 fuel pipes on my car and i can only find 1 inlet on the injector rail. i seriously need some help i will even pay someone to help me get it sorted.
many many thanks in advance, paul

You will need the VTR fuel pump I remember that from when I looked into doing this conversion
Is the ecu from the vtr? you may need an unlocked one

thanks for the fast reply.
yeah ecu is from the vtr not sure if its unlocked, will try n get the fuel pum tomorow, but i still dont get why it cranks the engine when i turn the ignition on also i get no dash lights. having a feeling i am going to have to splice the 2 main plugs on the front right of the engine bay together!!! i blody hope not, might have to buy a vtr hains manual tomorow to try and get my head round it.

Ermmmmmm yes the 2 main plugs on the front wing need splicing together
You have to sit with a wiring diagram and work out what each wire does - its a nightmare!! Definatly not an easy conversion
As for the fuel lines it sounds like you have a new style vtr lump which means the fuel pressure regulator on the vtr will have been on the tank, so no return line
Whereas on your 1.1 the fuel pressure regulator will have been on the fuel rail and used a return line
Your options here are either to fit the full vtr fuel pump/pressure regulator and fuel lines, or use an old style vtr fuel rail which has the fuel pressure regulator on and 2 fuel pipe connectors
I'd try and find an old fuel rail, as changing the fuel lines is a nightmare

again thanks for the quick reply.
that helps a lot, out to buy a vtr hains manual then, also if i get an older fuel rail will my old fuel pump be ok.
is that all i need to get it running as i have done a 4 stud conversion for a vts lowerd with coilovers and the drop link arb. will my old rad be ok as it has plumbed in ok! i aint got much other choice but to continue as the engine and gearbox and suchlike is all in the car!!

right i now have the fuel pressure regulator thingy from under the rear seat in the saxo, can i mount this under the bonnet on the fuel feed and return pipes??
also could i use this software and cable to unlock the ecu?

well on the advice of a friend who runs a garage i have been and ripped out the full wiring loom out of the donor saxo plus the dash cos it is rounder and nicer than the independance dash, and power windows, locks, foggys, headlight adjustrs and suchlike, just a case aof putting it in!

using the whole saxo loom will make things much easyer mate, no need for splicing then, as for the fuleing, id get a fuel pressure regulator of ebay and set it to 3.5 bar which the vtr runs at, then you can fit the fuel feed and return to the regulator and take the single feed out from the regulator to your fuel rail.
also iv read that you have fitted drop link struts to your 106, make sure on full lock that the droplink mount on the strut doesnt foul the brake flexy hose where it connects to the copper pipe. it it on a small mount on the front leg. this happend to me and i hade to cut the mounts off the struts and use the standrad arb which sits ontop of the wishbone.

sorted the fuel, just t pieced the feed rail and sent 1 to the fuel rail, 1 to the regulator attached to return and 1 on a t piece on the brake vacume hose and it works!!! brake lines are ok thank god, can't be doing with more problems! now i've buggard my rh driveshaft, i'm running 3 stud shafts but tryin to get my hands on some 4 stud shafts, also need an intermediate bearing carrier, but it did go well until i broke it, apart from the clutch slippin, shit!

all sounds a bit messy... when its all runnin right you'll love it.... i did the same conversion, but had no problems with wiring fueling or anything, result!

hell your lucky, got it sorted though, got some new driveshafts, and a lightweight flywheel, also threw on a 4-2-1 while i was at it. it wasn't my driveshafts though that i'd boroke as i originaly thaught, it was the differential i'd smashed to bits! so i put my old 1.1 gearbox. result!!!!! its like shit off a shovel, need to take it down the a180/m180 n see what she'll do!
anyone want a cheep 1.1 spi engine 66k?

dont the 1.1's, according to the book only do 96mph? so i cant imagine it doin much more then that, but it'll get there like a bat out of hell! the 4-2-1 manifold dont half make a difference does it, picks up alot quicker? you de-cat yours aswell?

yeah it goes like stink aught to call it milk.........as its past-ur-ies(d) before you see it!!!!!!!! as to the box, i think i had the long box on ma 1.1 cos i have only been up to 90 (wheels need tracking and ballancing) but i'd just shifted
(well not long) into 4th and it had a lot more!! we will see the outcome in a few days.
i tryed just using the feed on the fuel but the pressure was too high, i had petrol spurting out from where they joined, not good, but its sorted now, and i just threw the whole loom in, made it a lot easyer, just rewire the plugs on the rear light cluser.
the sound system and screens are back in, just the door wiring with the leccy windows, central locking and front speakers now. then comes the task of stiking the vtr arches, door pannels, dimma skirt, laguna splitter, vtr rear bumper and splitter on lots of mess and fun, like being in nursery again!!

For a Saxo dash, I think you need the doorcards too, but dont quote me on that. :)
