well basically Ive found myself with a brand new piper 270 cam, but its for blacktops and ive got a silvertop. BUT im thinking of getting an older head like an XSi one so it will fit. Labour costs are not an issue, so is it worth buying a new head? cheers

heads are cheap enough mate. I'm swapping my 98 spec vtr head back to an older ax gti head

i thought you couldnt swap, because a sensor on the loom didnt match up or something?

i looked at doing it a while ago, but fitting a silvertop head to my blacktop bottom end

His silvertop is a 1.4 silvertop though. They only did silvertop Quikys didnt they?

Or am I missing the point completely, and its actually a 1.6?

i am in the middle of dropping a black top 1.6 8v vtr engine in just stuck on wiring at the mo, not sure how much they are worth but i stumbled across a website the other day that does exchanges for kent cams for about £150 dont know if its kent for kent or standard for kent

well things didn't go to plan, my dear dad rolled the car out of the workshop (as engine in bits) but it was in gear with the head off, pistons didnt appreciate that lol so looks like im having to get a new engine, but have found a 306 1.6 8v which takes my fancy for just £130, would be an improvement aswell.. every cloud has a silver lining! :D

All quikys are silver tops..Hence the silver rocker cover.

Only difference between <2000 and 2000+ is the spacing on the head.
