to go to mpi you would need to sort out the wireing loom, change fuel pump, uprate brakes

cheers, yeah thats what i wanted to know basically :) how big would the work be?
my dads a mechanic so i get free labour :P ahah :D obvs ill give him a hand. or would it be easier just to get hold of a 1.4 spi and tune it?
Why would you want to swap two 1.1 engines that are delivering just about the same staggering power?
Unless your engine is goosed then i'd guess this is one way of sorting it.

the hard part is going to be sorting out the loom for the 1.4 mpi engine all the rest should be pretty easy

i dont want to swap two 1.1 engines, i want to swap a 1.1 with something bigger :)
although my 1.1 engine is f****d
Well, it wouldn't really be worth getting a 1.4, so it'd be best getting a vtr or GTi conversion to get *some* money's worth.
And it's getting the loom in that could be a pretty major job if you dont quite know what you are doing.
The engine conversion is a pretty big job.

i dont mean to sound like im in the maffia but, i have connections :) i could get a donor car for next to nothing maybe a vtr. tbf i think that a gti would be hard to find, ive seen loads of vtr's in salvage yards, i gutted one :D

if your going to fit a mpi engine you will need the following:
engine
engine loom (spliced to in car loom)
fuel pump
if you fit a silvertop vtr or quicksilver engine use a fuel rail off an xsi or rallye to run a fuel return line or fit an after market fuel pressure regulator
ecu (un locked if needed)
drive shafts if needed
break upgrade
bigger radiator (if needed)
if prob missed a couple of things out from there mate but thats most of it

id go for at least a vtr
imo theres not much difrence between the 1.1 and 1.4,thats why im going for a 1.1 again next time, not worth paying 2 more insurance groups for vertually no more power
