fucks sake! the fucking police took my plates off me tonight!! albeit, i got off lightly! i didnt realise my tax was 4 weeks out of date and they didnt say shit about my mirrored windows! and cos i went round the inside on a roundabout and then over took two cars coming off the roundabout which is 2 lanes which go into one they reckoned they cud do me for driving without due care and attention!

anyway, is it really illegal to have a 'F' under my euro flag on my plate i know that my letters are illegally spaced but they said they were confiscating them cos off the F as i am not french and neither is the car! although i said in theory it is a french car! which went down like a lead balloon

yeah man, do u know the roundabout on the a6 by barnfield college, and riddy lane, i was coming from town going out towards the barton cutting, came up the inside on 2 cars and nailed off the roundabout as i came off the roundabout in the right lane the coppers were coming down towards the roundabout made it about 100m before i saw the blue lights!!

Theres two people near me in the same house who have black plates, they still have them at the moment but i'm guessing it wont be long before they get taken off them.

Football logos are illegal too, just cos you seen them doesn't mean they're legal.

As for what next, just use a standard plate. Have a nice one for show plates at shows etc. Its the same with tints, if you have them on the front, you're likely to be pulled.

Don't see the point of obvious illegal stuff, its just gona cost you and give you hassle. You might not agree with the law (I sure don't) but if you defy it, you have to prepared to put up with the consequences.

Although I have never been pulled for mine (although they are not illegaly spaced) and neither have my friends who all drive VW's with German plates.

I didnt think it mattered what logo was on the side as long as the required markings were on the bottom, such as where they were made and the British Trading Standard marking thing (what ever it is) :confused:

well my windows are mirror tinted all round, the copper was stood next to the car checking my tax, basically looking at himself i my windows and he didnt say shit about it!

the thing is standard plates look shite! a nice plate can really set a car off! my french ones looked the bolox! like i said tho i may get standard ones but have them cut down as my plate is quite short but have them on velcro and maybe get some french ones which are spaced to spell P11G ME

thing is if i hadnt off overtook coming off the roundabout they probably wudnt have pulled me, iv driven past loads of coppers and not been done for my plates, even had some following me! i think cos my car is so modded, they dont pick up on things like the plates and the windows!

French plates are illegal to have on UK cars - its a customs and excise thing. And the playboy bunnies and crap are illegal too now. You have to present ownership documents to have new plates made and the only thing on the left is a gb symbol

3) One of the biggest problems with UK roads at the moment is uninsured, untaxed cars being driven by people without licenses (a lot of the time illegal imigrants). If the police see a car with a dodgy looking plate it could be a sign that they are trying to avoid roadside checks etc... They will then do a check on the vehicle, if it comes back untaxed then you're going to get pulled!

So lets not all jump onto the "police are all dicks" bandwagon here, a lot of my close friends (and some of the members of this forum) are police officers :)

Ive never had any trouble with mine, i had a police car sat behind me at some traffic lights starting at them too.

Saying that, i dont draw attention to myself when im driving round, no stupidly loud music or wheelspins like 99% of badboys round my area do.

Yeah, but the SUPRA (expensive) that had been out and past the cop many times had a WHITE rear plate! Also I see a lot of small cars with "illegal" plates, a couple of weeks later they dont have them! Then I see BMW's etc (expensive) with illegal plates, and everytime I see them they have them! It's just an annoying theme if you like!

they did the check when i was in the car with them! they pulled me simply for accelarting quickly! it was only once they'd pulled me they needed something to do me for! they showed me the footage of me overtaking and were saying things like 'u were over the hatched lines' what a load of bollocks! as if i gonna drive on hatched lines and pick up untold amounts of stone chips! it wasnt worth arguing with them cos like i said, i got off lightly!

not going slowly, just not as fast as i wanted to go! (the speed limit) as im sure u all know, our cars handle superbly round roundabouts so i choose the inside lane as its a single carriageway that approaches the roundabout, but when at the roundabout its 2 lanes and if you go staright on the first 20m or so is also 2 lanes! so i used the right lane to go past the little collection of about 4 cars (2 on the roundabout 2 coming off the roundabout) the copper said i put everyone in danger i thought (not said) if id pulled in inbetween these cars that wud have been considered cutting them up, so i went past all of them without speeding or being dangerous, just by using acceleration and the right hand lane! which is why i think these 2 coppers are dicks!

Well you learn something new every day. i didn't know that you were only allowed GB under the euro union flag for it to be legal.

I've got a peugeot lion at the side of mine and 'Shorty's 106' written underneath on the front and 'taxed, tested, insured - go catch real criminals' underneath on the back (little bit daft as it could draw more attention i know).

Im not being funny. But I have seen your car pugme, and its somthing you going to have to learn to deal with. Like you said, big exhaust, thus producing a loud noise? Big body kits, bonnet vents, big shiny wheels... its not somthing there going to miss easily.

The wreckless driving thing i cant comment on, but yeah I have a GTi, and it doesnt take much to get to 40,... see where Im coming from, if you put your foot down coming off the roundabout.. you must of been doing 20 atleast round the roundabout... and you accelerate from 20 to 40.. :) :)

Anyone see that road wars thing a while back where the cops were following a car and the camera couldn't see the plate (was blank on the cam) but it looked perfectly fine to the mk1 human eyeball. They sell the film stuff done they, which you can put on your numberplates and all thing like cameras just either glare it out.. and with a flash it just reflects it back in your face.. You can do it with hairspray aswell apperently.. for the flash thing, not the normal film thing..
Was it at night.. this cop wars thing?! Becuase the headlights of the cop car would have glared off the numberplate I rekon.

I know about the glare/flash effect but no this one was during the day, which is why I remember it. I just found it proper odd that the film crews camera had no trouble with it but on the car and the anpr cams it just appeared completely blank (all yellow). Plate didn't look like it had a film or anything on it either, looked a little shiny but thats prob cos it was clean.

id just like to make a final comment on this, to Kaymarie, iv been driving for nearly 10 years now, and as far as im aware, overtaking in the right hand lane is not considered driving like a twat, if ur not allowed to do it, why put 2 lanes there?? and as both lanes can go straight on at a roundabout, there was nothing reckless about my driving. and yes they were making things up, because they played me the footage and said look ur driving on the hatched lines, but as all it showed was me coming up the outside in the right lane, for me to have been on the hatched lines, it wud have showed my car moving over to the right a second time.
