The other half lives near Arundel so I'm often over that way at the weekends. Got some customers at Findon and Hassocks so I'm sometimes there during the weekdays.

Jonny-R is around Chichester in his 106 Zest2 most weekdays.

The weather's good.. evenings are really lush at the moment. A meet should therefore happen  I'd love to see a GTi. It'll be the next car I get, for sure.

Jonny-R
11-06-2007, 11:33 PM
Yeah a meet would be wicked.

gozzer

Ha
Yeh ive got 3 other mates with 106's.

Ows
12-06-2007, 10:02 PM
Are weekends generally better for everyone?

I was thinking, a sunny sunday, gather the lot up from Burgess Hill/Hassocks way then head over towards Chichester, great roads through Storrington and Arundel then maybe a photo snapping session in Bosom Harbour or any of the many pretty places in Chi that would benefit from having some pugs grace their presence?

What do we think? Im also happy for a choccie milkshake and a natter in a car park too! :)

Ah good spotting, I fancied a blast about, I was almost tempted to spin round and give chase but it was going home time.. if you had been a few minutes quicker you would of heard how harsh 3rd gear sounds lol I saw you coming off the roundabout in a white drop top escort wasnt it?

Jonny - Yea I love over Chi way, my mum loves boats so always pop and see em parked (if thats the right term for boats) in the harbour... You know of any pubs we could check in for a sunday roast and drink round your way? I PM'd your bro for some suggestions, so all are welcome.

Need to get a weekend date sorted too, make it happen while summer is still here!

More the merrier, people and cars :)

Jonny-R
13-06-2007, 07:45 PM
Ows - there's a massive beef eater pub / outdoor eat place at Bosham with a shed load of parking, so that would be a good option.
But, I work Sundays, is there any chance of a Saturday meet?! :D

Where do you propose it starts at?

Dave-R
13-06-2007, 07:54 PM
Hi guys.

Weekends are normally good for me. Jonny-R is odd and works on a Sunday though! I'm normally around Arundel at the weekends so could catch you guys as you go through and maybe catch Jon nearer Chichester.

There are loads of good pubs in Chichester. Parking can be a bit crap though.

Bosham is nice. There's that Beefeater (I think?) in Bosham which looks nice. There's also a small pub right on the water's edge. Website at http://www.bosham.org/anchor/index.htm :)

If you ever go there, don't park on the road by the pub because the sea covers it at high tide. Heh. A mate of mine has seen a BMW get a bit damp there.

Or.. closer to you guys is Fontwell/Slindon. There's a nice pub by the Fontwell services/Fontwell race course. Hasn't been open all that long. Parking is good there.

Best if we maybe set a date, some rough times and then work out a route?

Cheers.

Ows
13-06-2007, 08:07 PM
Dave and jonny - Thanks for the info, I would say head towards Bosom way?

Im totally cool for the Saturday :) everyone else ok for that? I might be tempted to pop over your way before the meet just say hello and iron out any creases (Plus my pug hasnt been through Arundel/Storrington yet and needs to be educated lol)

Jonny-R
13-06-2007, 09:02 PM
A saturday would be perfect, if we can get a few good lads to join in and go in convoy too.
Where is a good palce to meet - then head down to Bosham? How long we looking to cruise for, hour?

Me and my brother have just been having a thinking, how about if we all meet at Crossbush, Arundel, West Sussex, BN18 9PQ that area. There's the crossbush pub/restaurant, or a MacDonalds with a BP garage with a largeish carpark. Could take some B roads and end up on the A259 which leads to Bosham? Just an idea though.
I think that isn't too far from you?

Jonny-R
13-06-2007, 09:36 PM
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=104349328406589958789.0000011326b73e2c1a5eb&ll=51.017642,-0.805092&spn=0.147081,0.32135&z=12&om=1

There is a very basic proposed route. How many miles are we looking at doing? Do you have any proposals for stop off points, and where else to go?

You could also completely change it if you wish.

We have calculated the distance using a ruler and a scale (lol) to 'roughly' 59.46miles. Sounds good to me. :)

Ows
13-06-2007, 10:55 PM
:D Whoa!

Great work there guys, I mean the mileage is totally upto everyone and what they fancy doing, im personally totally fine with whatever, I think its about 20-30miles ish from Burgess Hill to Arundel, then whatever we decide from there...

Just took a peeky at the google map and that looks spot on to me!

Everyone take a look and get your name down for the best date...

Well done again guys for getting a plan formed

Cheers!

Just one prob mate, im shit at footie :D But the Crappy D's sounds like a plan

Jonny-R
14-06-2007, 09:43 PM
I'd rather go for a blast and stop off at a few places on the way. Haha. The only thing is, do any of us know the proposed route / where we can stop off? lol. :D

Ows
14-06-2007, 10:08 PM
I think that if we head for Bosham and surrounding areas we should be ok.. the drive upto Petersfield sort of way may end up halving the group numbers as we will all prolly get lost lol

Jonny-R
14-06-2007, 10:12 PM
Hahahahaha. So true. So shall we keep the same start place? Then just go straight to Bosham?

Ows
14-06-2007, 10:14 PM
Sounds fine to me, I think we will keep it straight forward to begin with then if peeps have ideas and directions when we all pile there it can be agreed at that time...

All sound good? If so what time are we proposing on the Saturday? (Just so that I can make a list and plonk a date and time location up)

Cheers again

Ows

Jonny-R
14-06-2007, 10:26 PM
The weather is pap for this Saturday, we could say next Saturday if the weather cheers up? Meet at the said location, park up, chat. Roll down Bosham, eat, and go in convoy somewhere?
Meet time, 11 - 12? Eat at 1 - 2?

So, how many people would be up for this.

why dont we try down sizing this, that way if you cant make it its not such a big deal. maybe just a little trip down to brighton by those who can make it, get to know each other then maybe plan summat a bit bigger later in the summer and sort it well in advance so people can book days off work etc so as many people as possible can make it? ? ?

Well the original plan that me Dave-R and Ows have is to go from Arundel -> Bosham, stop at Bosham for some photos (if you know the area you'll know why) and then eat lunch at the beef eater.

Ows

Yup, I mean we are def going to do this, so basically all that can make it are very welcome, I mean this twill not be the last southern meet up, its just giving us all the chance to say hello chat pugs and meet in the flesh...

All ears about other times and suggestions, just start a new thread up with the proposed time and locations and get as many yays or no's as you can..

Admin - Can we make some kind of online diary (like you get in MS Outlook) so that people can plonk a date in so you can see at a glance if something is happening in your area on a certain day? Just a thought..

Yup agreed with Jonny...

A weekend, Saturday is what we are proposing yup? for the drive to Chi/Bosham.

Next weekend is out for me, off to Belgium... but how about the second Saturday, 8th of July?

Meet at a proposed location and go from there?

Brighton is local and easy enough for all of us BH and HH peeps so we should try and keep an eye out for the weather and get a evening in for a mini cruise, short notice is cool but keep it posted up on here?

The next meet we can make a Sunday and that way we can get a better idea of how people are fixed.

Hey guys. Just got back but off tomorrow to Newquay for a week.

The date is the 4th of August. That's a Saturday - numbers are looking good keep the names coming in. We will do final details next weekend.

Dave-R
20-07-2007, 11:49 PM
Keep adding your names to the list! Good turn out so far and a great selection of cars too. 1.1, Quiksilver, GTi, Rallye, XSi...

And start thinking of possible meet locations. We've got people coming from Southampton and Portsmouth so maybe somewhere a little closer to the Hampshire border for the first meet? Rather than going on a mission in to Brighton, for example.

Plan would be to keep it simple. Meet somewhere, put names to faces and cars. Then in convoy for something to eat.

We'll finalise everything next weekend so keep adding to the list and start listing some locations!

Blinding stuff.

Now we just need to organise a meeting place/time for 4th August and have some form of plan on what we're going to do (small drive to grab some food and have a drink..). Personally, I'd like to meet somewhere nearer (ish) the Hampshire border as opposed to say Brighton. We've (hopefully!) got a few people coming from Hampshire, me included.

So I'm proposing we meet at Crossbush, Arundel. This is 23.1 miles away from where I live (Hayling Island) and 22.1 miles away from Brighton. Near enough in the middle :)

Crossbush is nice and easy to find. It's on the A27. There's a BP garage and McD's there, with plenty of space for everyone to park up and put names and cars to faces initially. Just down the road (5 minutes?) is Arundel itself where there's a nice pub ("The Black Rabbit") that's tucked away by the side of the river Arun. Could go there for a bit of food.

...after that, we can play it by ear and do a spot of follow the leader :D

Bounce some ideas around. 4th August is next weekend!

Cheers.

Quality. I hope you can make it. Fingers crossed the turnout is good. As for the location, some suggestions would be good

If you do come up with some suggestions, take in to account a) this is the first Sussex meet (I think?) and b) it's a meet, in Sussex.. not everyone is from Burgess Hill/Brighton. People coming from Chichester, Portsmouth and even Southampton (I hope!).

So that's why I'm going for Crossbush, Arundel. Because it's in Sussex and fairly central to the region. I'm also proposing we meet around 1pm? That way by the time we roll it'll be time to grab some food and have a chat.

But suggestions always welcome. As is feedback, like "Yes" or "No" :)

Woohoo. So we've had three definites so far, hehe. C'mon guys and gals :) You know you want to. You know it makes sense. Looking ahead to next Saturday, the weather isn't looking that bad. Partly cloudy, a high of 22c and low of 15c (http://uk.weather.com/weather/detail/BN18?dayNum=6). Make the effort :)

Nearer the middle of this coming week I'll finalise the details and try to get a postcode so those of you who are using GPS shouldn't have too much trouble.

@Stevie_GTI: I'm in the center of Hayling, just down the road from St. Mary's church and The Hayling College (which is actually a school).

SWEEEEET!, right well my car is still letting water into the cockpit everytime it rains, and i mean alot, and also i have a drivers seat, and thats it, no carpet or soundproofing or stereo, no ICE, and no centre console :P

BUT i hav just put the new wheel on, induction should be going in this week with yellow hoses, and so should the alarm and (if it comes on tuesday like promised) the centre exit exhaust.. and there is something else too.. hmmmm

will hav to check my prgress blog to remeber what else is arriving

but im good for the 1pm meet, means i can get back in time for work at 7pm at the strip club

How come it's off the road?

Quite funny really, Bro went to move it to get the 205 out then it apparently started smoking from the steering column and did a fuse/indicator relay.. supposed to be a common problem  But Im hoping I can get to the dealers and get a new stalk which should sort it all out and leave me ready to enjoy the weekend :)

If anyone has or is breaking a GTI and has a stalk going drop me a PM!

1PM meet would be best, as it will take an hour ish to get there for most people. We'll give the postcode soon.
Looks like it might be a quiet meet, lol.

Dave-R
31-07-2007, 07:18 PM
Glad you can make it Ows (fingers are crossed anyway). Its been a mission to organise this but here are the final details:

4th August - Sussex meet - 1pm, Crossbush services, Arundel.

Map:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=111477124788658747411.0004366c16bd4408f1d76&ll=50.854823,-0.542885&spn=0.029313,0.09407&z=14&om=1

I've made it 1pm to give people enough time to get there who may be traveling from Southampton, for example. Plus the pub is just down the road, so it won't take us long to get there for some lunch/drink and a chat.

If you look at the map, there's a marker on there called "Meeting point". I can't get an exact postcode but BN18 9PQ is near enough (that postcode is for a Beefeater restaurant just before the Crossbush services). It should be easy enough to find as it's on the A27.

If you're coming from Hampshire/Chichester way, when you reach Crossbush you'll see a Beefeater restaurant on your left hand side as you approach a roundabout. Go over the roundabout. Don't take the first exit otherwise you're on your way to Brighton! You should be able to see the BP station and McDonalds which is on your right.

If you're coming the other way, you can't miss it. It's straight infront of you, so go left and the traffic lights on the roundabout and take the next road on your right in to the BP station/McDonalds.

We'll meet in the BP station car park and probably make a move from there about 1.30/1.45pm in case some people are running late.

Also on the map is the "Black Rabbit pub". It's just down the road in Arundel along the river Arun. Weather looks good (partly cloudy). So we can go there for some lunch/drink and a chat. After that we can convoy somewhere? See how things go.

If you want my mobile number "just in case", send me a PM. Hopefully see everyone on Saturday!

I've had my doubts about Jonny-R at times, so there might be two of you.

Seriously though, I think this is the first meet in Sussex. I don't know anyone either (apart from Jonny-R obviously). So don't stress :) You know you want to come along! It's going to be quality. We've all got something in common too.

Don't worry about not knowing anything about cars. You've got a pug and you're on 106owners.co.uk, so that's the main thing!

To be honest, I have no idea about what we'll do afterwards. I've left the last part open to suggestions and we can chat about that when we're having some food :) I think Ows might be our leader when it comes to any kind of convoy! Either that or TomTom to the rescue, avoiding the A27 so it makes the trip more interesting.

Hopefully see you on Saturday. Take it easy.

Famous last words there mate ;)

But yea, its gonna be laid back, easy going and just a chance to put names and faces to pixels and fonts, we are after all drivers of 106's and we all have that in common...

My stalk has been dispatched so fingers crossed it will be fitted and sorted for Saturday

Should be there between 1 and half pass, depending on when my baby wakes up and wants feeding !!! Bloody kids !!! lol !!!

Not up for the drive with little one in the car but what i do have is a road rally route plan that ive done with other groups. Its a 120 odd mile two stage route from pease pottage on the a24 to devils dyke in brighton. Will bring a copy with me and if any one is up for it we could make it the next meet?????? tis a bloody good laugh !!

Stay local over night and get to Goodwood Racing Circuit for their Breakfast Club meet which this month is German Cars. It's the best FREE car show in the country every first Sunday of the Month (except when the Revival meet is on) Just about every supercar you can think of normally is on show.

Hey guys.
Shame on you for not turning up! Only joking, but would of been nice to meet some more of you.
John came in his mint gti. Really nice guy. We went for Lunch (with Dave's other half too) and then after hit some backroads, upto Peterfield and places. Such good fun as the roads were nearly empty and the weather was gorgeous.

Got some pictures will sort them out at some stage.
We should organise another one where more people come..

Easy guys. There were four and a half people.. could have been better but I know these things can't be helped. All in all, it was good. Weather was fantastic! I got nice and sunburnt. Good to meet daddyjohnboy (http://www.106owners.co.uk/forums/member.php?u=351), his little daughter and see his GTi :)

Yeah, there are some photos where me and Jonny-R went on a bit of a drive up to the top of Duncton hill, through to Petworth, Midhurst, Petersfield and then down the A3 back on to the A27 at Havant  There was a random diversion to somewhere called "Dumpford" too. I saw the sign and it amused me, so we headed in it's direction... single track road! Very fun (unless a tractors coming the other way).

Jonny-R has said photos but he's buggered off to France, so I can't get at them.
