any one know much about catcams 708s justput some in me gti anyone know where i could get the cam timing set up

Set inlet to 2 degrees before standard and advance exhaust 1 degree then it should idle until you have it mapped.

where you getting it mapped is it getting mapped on standard ecu

I will change my cams soon. I have read that standard timing is ok for good idle..?

standard timing is ok for idle etc, although to get optimim for them you need to adjust correctly, look on the cat cam website it tells you where they should be set

I quess it says in the paper I got with the cams. Thanks for the advice!

like 106 turbo said, standard timing will be a good start, but remember standard timing is "proper" timing for standard cams, and depending on ramp angle and lift/duration will dramitcally change where they need swnging.

708s installed... The idle is ok, about 1000rpm.
How safe I can drive without remapping them yet?

its hard to say as it depends what the fuelling is like as ive heard of LOTS of people running them without mapping even for a year or so but i know of one person who melted a piston because it leaned off. i would run it and as soon as you can afford it get it done.:cool:
