Just need to find out if the 1.6 8v Rallye Cam will fit a Black top Vtr? and if there will be any improvements or gains

yes it will. techinically should make it almost a rallye engine. however the rallye head is slightly more ported on the inlets but that is all.

fozy, while your online, iv been told that the s2 rallye engine in mine has the 1300 rallye cam in it.
id feels cammjed as it gives a real kick in the back at 5000rpm and it idles a little lumpy.
would this make sense to fit thast cam.
is it a higher lift cam than the original rallye s2 cam

50% of ppl u talk to will tell u the s1 cam is identical to the s2 cam
45% of ppl will tell u the s1 cam is bigger than the s2 cam
5% of ppl just make shit up

yeh it would make sense cos if u think about it the guy who put the 1.6 in urs could have just changed bottom ends. thats as easy as changing an engine completly. all u would need extra is a head gasket. From the XSI and s2 Rally cams i have seen they have been visiably no different. if u were to get it on a machine u may see a difference. so i have no doubt in my own opinion that the s1 cam is the same aswel!

mine doesnt kik in till 5k RPM so that doestn differentiate different from mine at all. so yes or no :P

the cams are more or less the same in the s1 and s2 rallye, measure the cam lobe with a micrometer to see if there is any difference in the lift

Id check if the cam bearing journals are the same size first if they aint then wont work. Sandy iirc confirmed a while back S1 and S2 cam are the same, want a cheap cam upgrade send the oe one off for a regrind by piper or kent, catcams are cheap enough new, also offer regrind service

just remember to adjust the rockers if fitting a re-ground cam!!
