Anything will fit if you get the right manifold.

fitting carbs to a 16v is like taking a shit backwards no good and not wise

thats what i thought. but also i heard that GTI engines dont take too well to carbs as they do TBs. in that c`se could i get bike TBs?

not sure mate. isnt it just the block that differs from sizes?

yeah i was just wondering whether bike TBs would be the same as but obviously not as good as something like jenvey

bike tbs will work fine just make sure you get a decent manifold made so the inudction tract is at the right angle will allow you to run decent inudction length then.

Best guy to talk about all things throttle body related is Sandy

02 onwards R6`s used bodies..

gsxr1000 use bodies.. K1 and K2 models used idividual ones bolted together like this:

late models came paired but are still useable...

a mate of mines currently fitting some `busa bodies onto his 205 (there frigging huge)

R1`s used bodies on later models...

i know laxy on the pgac uses R6 bodies on his nana gti so there is DEFINATLY a manifold out there for that combo

too much choice now! lol

which would you recommend?

the ones in he pic are K1/K2 gsxr1000 bodies that i`m putting on my 8v to replace the R6 carbs i`m currently running.. pretty sure they`re 42mm and are pretty much the ideal size for 1600`s...

if theres a manifold for them that fits the GTI its what i`d reccomend.. i know sandy`s mate colin is doing an 8v manifold as i emailed him the other day.. and i would expect he does 16v inlets to suit them too...

as said before sandy knows the TU lump as well as anyone out there so drop him a message and see what he has to say...

would gsxr 1000 k3 bodies be any good? what else would need changing to run this? besides the manifold and am i right in saying some sort of e.c.u.?

IIRC stu the GSXR1000 bodies are tapered, can't remember the sizes but from 45mm down to 42mm at the head side of the bodies seems to ring a bell.

sandy is definietly the man to speak to, he gave me a load of help with mine :)

and as for the GXSR1000 inlet for the 16v, Colin Satchell is developing an inlet kit to sandys design ATM

yup they`re tapered bodies.. at the trumpet end there HUGE!!

you can run the K3 bodies.. depending on what ECU you have i think KMS can do a aftermarket ecu that plugs into 106 gti loom.. QEP woul be able to confim or advise on this...

im realy considering this know.... seams alot cheaper way than car bodies. would these give similar gains to car ones such as jenvy? and how do i find this sandy? cheers

he`s usually loitering on the rallye register or talk torque.... very occasionally on here...

there cheaper YES...

BUT........

obtaining the inlet manifold isn`t always easy.. neither is obtaining trumpets long enough to suit the car application.. bike trumpets are usually mega short so some head scratching and lateral thing may be required instead of just phoning jenvey and ordering a bolt on part...

theres a few other areas such as fuel pressure regulators on the fuel rail (bikes sometimes have them in the fuel lines)

mister brown will i`m sure explain things better than me
