View Full Version : cams
Will performance cams increase the chance of headgasket goin? Should it be uprated before they are fitted?
No, dont bothered unless you plan on raising the compressios with either new pistons or forced induction. Even then its not essential.
ok and is it a good idea to have the cams in for abit before a remap?

probs a good idea to run them in gently, you dont want it going on the rollers fresh as it will be being pushed pretty hard
Yea like mikey says, just let them bed in. RR is a harsh enviornment.
couple of hundred miles? or not that much
Yeah a tank of petrol taking it easy :)
Also use cam lube when you fit them to help with the first start up before the oil has found its way to the top of the engine.
ok thanks for the advice. The mechanic should do that cos I wont be fitting them. not confident enough.

tell him just to make sure, better safe than sorry :)
I've heard people being told to run them in for about 1000 miles before having a remap.
