hey guys, im new on here, got a 106 gti(as a first car) but the list of problems iv had are endless, still i aint gettin rid of her.
the latest problem iv had is that sumtimes it wont go in to gear, as if it isnt lining up. selector will go half way but feels as if thers sumthing stopping it.
usually it sorts itself out, but will happen again out of the blue, iv jus had a new clutch fitted so that side of its ok, and because it will go in sumtimes and drive fine then the gearbox is ok. is it the linkage?
if anyones had the same problem and found out what it is please let me know
thanks

could be the gear linkages are worn. the rubber centres tend to wear out on these.
I've changed mine for a set of group n ones and it does seem to be a more postive change.
Is it a case of always being a bitch to get into reverse? If so, not to worry, this affects pretty much all Peugeots... French.
Simply keep coming off the clutch a little whilst putting a small amount of pressure on the gear stick moving it into the 'reverse' gear position... It will go into gear without stalling. No need to then get angry stamping the clutch down 10 times and thumping the gear stick :)

ye i knew abut the reverse thing, common fault, like my leaky sunroof.haha
its all gears, mainly 1st and 5th, u kno its going to play up because it will b a bit stiff goin in for example 4th to3rd at a round about, soon as u stop then, try putting it in 1st and it jus dont want to go in.
thanx il try gettin it sorted over weekend

have a look at the linkages at the back of the box and see if they are rubbing on the firewall/bulkhead
