I have an old k reg xn, and im considering to buy a 16v gti engine to put in it...this may sound pointless, but i wanna know how much it would put me back or if it would be better just to buy a gti.
To buy the engine on eBay or something would be about £400 maybe a bit more, but i wouldn't really be up for fitting it myself so id have to take it somewhere....would it be a normal garage that could do it or would i have to take it to a specialist?
Rep for anyone who helps :)
Cheers Matt.

buy a gti, it's better looking and you don't have to fit breaks, wheels, suspensions after the conversion, unless you want to...

When i want to do the conversion i'll be taking it too French Sport Tuning and get them to do it. I'd rather it done properly than me doing it

yeah i was thinking last night, that id have to change the brakes and everything...by the time i add up the cost of all the parts, i would be better off just buying a gti.Would still be a laugh to see an old shed go like a gti. lol

I think FPT can do a conversion for about £650

Thats starting price on a vtr conversion, £1000 is starting price on a 16v engine.
cheers

i think (would need to check) thet you'l need to change the inner wing on yours as IIRC yours will use one of the gay engine mounts. so it would be a decent bit of work. but do it ;)

yeh i think the same..

i wouldnt bother personally as u need to upgrade ur brakes.. which if ur only a 3stud model means changing to four stud and the list goes on

yes you will need to change the inner wing for a xsi one to allow the alloy square bar mount to be fitted as the black tin plate mount wont support a gti engine for long.

a 4 stood conversion takes a day topps its a real simple job to do! pm me for a price
