Is this air filter any good? It says "K&N" on it?

Just wondering :)

As Daz said, something like a Raceland or BMC will be alot better suited. Think of all that heat-soak the K&N filter is breathing in atm.

Heat soak is when heat is sucked in through the air filter, thus lessening the power. Same as heat soak to an intercooler:)

more air = more power but hot air less power...
so with the airfilter you get more power but only if you cover it and provide it with cool air from outside (ecosse or bmc indotuction kit).. as long as it sucks in the hot air produced by the engine you will get no results...

But by the looks of it he has two cold air feeds comming from underneath. So you could just get a sheild to cover the top and side part(closest to the block) of the filter.

And to clean it just unbolt/screw the filter section. Buy some filter cleaner, stick it in a bowl of hot water mixed with the cleaner and scrub it all down with a brush. Then rinse it all off with clean water and let it dry. Once dry re oil it(most cleaning kits consist of a cleaner and a oil)
