Hi,
New to the site and read a couple of interesting tips on the carpet in the 106. I've got a 98 1.1 xn which was pretty standard when I got it, I've put in ice and I'll post some pics in a while.

Bought a central locking kit and started fitting it today, drilled in an actuator and bent actuator arm twice so that it'll go up through the door to hold onto the original button, since doing this adds a big bulky bit and changes the angle of the button the door card won't fit back on, if i take out the pin surround and force it on it will just about squeeze on but the pin cant move ie the lock won't work:mad:!

Been told I need to take the dash apart to route the wires through from the door, can someone please tell me how to:
a)Take the door apart to change where the actuator connects, or, how to fit the door card so the chunkier top isn't a problem?
and...
b)How to dismantle the dash so I can route the wires through, or, if there's a better way of doing it?
Cheers, Tom

eh!? what have you done with the arm? you should connect it the the metal wire that moves the door pin. You also dont have to take apart the dash :S just mount the controller units etc behind the glove box, take that off if you want. There are 2 white pins holding it underneath slide them towards each other and it'll come off. As far as putting the wires through into the door i just drilled a new hole above the plug and put a grommet on it then fed the wires through.

I've connected the new wire bit to the original one, but I had to do it right at the top, just underneath the plastic. I think its the chunky clamp that holds the two together thats causing problems, considering cutting a hole in the door so i can connect them lower down, or does that sound like a really bad idea?
Kit came with gromets so i'll do it your way, cheers for the help. Tom

aha! right yeah i just made myself a wee hole further down and joined it up.
You cant see the hole when the door cards are in anyway.
