Right i had like a grinding noise when i accelrate and let off in 1st and 2nd.
if i push my foot on the clutch the noise disappears
SO thats the thrust bearing i take it? is it a hard job once the box is off? how much?
also i find it hard to push into gear only very ocastionally, is this the thrust bearing, the clutch never slips.

Yes, that's more than likely your thrust bearing (aka release bearing).
It's like a grinding/whooshing noise? You can hear it in neutral and stops when you put your foot on the clutch? Sounds like a bag of nails under the bonnet?
New clutch you're look at around £65-75 (my Valeo clutch cost me £75 inc. VAT). Labour, anywhere between £120-£150 from a friendly local mechanic.
I found it sometimes hard to get my car in to gear when my release bearing was knackered and since I've had a new clutch fitted, it seems a lot easier. However that may just be all in my head!

you dont have to buy a hole new clutch if you look on ebay then there was a few new thrust bearings on there.
but if they said it had been done and it aint would be well worth doing the lot anyway

Haven't you got any invoices to show a) a new clutch was purchased and b) the work was carried out?
