Hey, I have a Sony CDX-GT111 (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/sony-cdxgt111-p-5496.html) head unit and I want to replace the front speakers in my S1 Graduate 106. Is it worth getting rear speakers in the parcel shelf as well? I'll be running everything off the head, will this be ok?

As I understand the front speaker replacements will have to be 5inch/13cm. Any reccomendations? I have a budget of no more than £50, is it worth changing them for this price?

Does anyone know of any good DIY guides for changing speakers?

Cheers,
Neil

Don't put speakers in the shelf, waste of time. For £50, I'd go for some JBL 13cm speakers.

To fit them, all you need to do is unscrew the door pocket and you can access the speaker. If its screwed in then unscrew and replace with new speakers. If they're riveted in, just snap of the rivet heads or drill them out and screw in new ones. You'll need to cut of the connector inside the door and link them to the new speakers with new connectors.

BTW, the screws will be torx ones.

Thanks for the helpful reply.

You'll need to cut of the connector inside the door and link them to the new speakers with new connectors.

Will the new speakers come with the new connectors? Is this easy to do?

Are these (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/jbl-gto527-p-5122.html?cadid=40ae31be9d9a19304d43669a10ce0622) ones you'd reccomend? I think I'll go for them or the Vibe Slick 50 (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/vibe-slick-p-5400.html?cadid=40ae31be9d9a19304d43669a10ce0622).

if youre not amping them then id go for the jbl, as they are less powerful

Forgot to check that. The JBLs have an rms power of 45W, and the head has an internal 4x45W amp, should I go for lower powered speakers again to be on the safe side?

yeh the 4x45 figure isnt an RMS figure either. those jbls would suit your needs just fine i think.

Anything will be better than standards. Then when you can afford it, amp the speakers and you will be very happy :)
