Right im lookin to set up a group buy on some Catcam 708's.

Before I do this I would like some interest first, if all is confirmed I will be taking a deposit before the order also.

These cams will run on the engines standard map, but a remap or stanalone management would be recomended.

Prices will be available when I get some interest.

Next month's too soon for me sadly as I still have an exhaust, induction kit and manifold to buy,

Could we not possibly see about getting a club discount from Qep, I think alot of people would buy stuff from them as they have such a good rep among user's on this site.

Iv had mixed reports Tom, I wouldnt bother personally, unless ur having a rebuild, then u mayswell.

pretty interested in these mate, dont want to fully commit before i know the prices - im not a cloud chaser however dont worry!

tommy_rallye
10-05-2008, 10:46 AM
tom i wouldnt bother with the lifters, i used my standard ones, engine was on 50k, aslong as you sqeeze them before instaling them again, and make sure you put them back in the right hole they came out of you'll be fine, mine rev to 7800 and i havent had any problems yet, (touches wood). i was going to get them but most people said mine will be fine plus if i got bigger spec'd cams in the future i'll get solid lifters then on a fresh rebuild.

katiescar
10-05-2008, 10:44 PM

708s wont run right on a standard, idle will be lumpy and will try to stall.

They can be drove with not for long, i would'nt risk it get it mapped and get the best from them.

708s tend to get the car comfortably into the 140s..

Was trying to negociate a better price from Catcams but they won't as they don't like people discounting

Will get prices up tomorrow.. we'll give as much as we can but unfortunately it won't be a massive reduction. working them out now

Bit OT but what are the main differences between running 708s and 808s?

Could you run 808s on the road without too many problems what are the drawbacks

I only ask because not many people are running 808s.

samco77on
27-06-2008, 06:17 PM
to run 808's you need to running standalone, individual throttle boddies and high comp pistons.

thats why not many people run them.

shunteruk
27-06-2008, 07:27 PM
what sort of BHP figures would you be looking at with 808s, throttle bodies, and high comp pistons on a standalone.

I mainly ask because i'm curious about what sort of gains you get from High comp Pistons.

Thanks
Stev

have a chat with vtr170, pretty sure he has done all that and is about about 189bhp?

106chris
27-06-2008, 09:14 PM
Yer i was wondering a little more about the 808s would be good to be a little different. Craig is running a massive spec as mikey b said (vtr170) im sure he will be happy to help out about that.

shunteruk
27-06-2008, 09:23 PM
ah right, doesnt seem much of a gain up on bhp for all that money on high comp pistons lol, think i may stick to the idea of a supercharged route, i want to hit the 200bhp mark minimum with the ability to go further on as i wish
