http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y100/tombo205gti-mi16/stugaveheragoodfisting.jpg
but it was about time me and disco did summat about it !!!
and this is the end result, lots more to do, like a clean would be nuff and a buff over!

then

have managed to change a few things over the weekend too, mainly the gearbox from the long ratio 1.9. to a short ratio 1.6 box with an mi16 final drive (makes the gears shorter than the standard 1.6)
also fitted quickshift, im now smiling again. cant wait to mi her!
the box out stu (discostu) set about fittin the quickshift.

mikey g then wanted the gear lever so he set about getting it, so much for stayin clean lol hahah
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y100/tombo205gti-mi16/mikeygan1.jpg
the stinkin 1.9 box covered in oil lol
and the best mod ever the short ratio box, so much fun!

then came the new addition
sorry for the long delay but things have finally come together and i have got some work done thanks to the hardwork of DISCOSTU AND MIKEY G this wouldnt have happened without you both (not gay just appricative)
right time for some update pics, i know a few had the idea i was doing the mi conversion as this project has suggested and lo and behold she is now basically complete.
this is how she looked with the 1.9 8v lump u was a good engine babe, never let me down no matter how hard i gunned you. RIP

all to be replaced with a fresh new heart!
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y100/tomb...bedroppedin.jpg (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y100/tombo205gti-mi16/readytobedroppedin.jpg)
and now to start the work takin the old apart
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y100/tombo205gti-mi16/itbegins.jpg
1hr later
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y100/tombo205gti-mi16/rippingtheoldshitapart.jpg
with everything out it was ready to get the car in the garage and the engine lifted out, but not putting the new engine in without the TRADITONAL engine conversion shot!
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y100/tombo205gti-mi16/traditonalshot.jpg
then outside to be cleaned, this is the best i could get her in the time frame which is 10 times better than it was, considering all the oil grease and wax that was caked and baked underneath the bonnet.

now not waisting anytime, best get the new one in there in all my excitement.

ahhh , 1.9 gti brings back memorys of mine lol, picked car up from garage second hand , should of only taken me 30 mins to get home , but ho ho no lol !! took me 3 sweet hours of fun all over south wales before i got back home !! wat a classsic motor , ive never had another car like it , unberstable power , rapid acceleration , so many merc + bmw drivers wer wasted by my little red rocket lol .... sorely missed but not forgotten.
