Looking around on the net Tuesday night for a new project and came across a 106 Quiksilver at a salvage yard...

So Wednesday I have the yard a ring and found out abit more about the car...10mins later I was the proud owner of yet another Quiksilver!

Picked her up yesterday and this is what she looked like

Its a 2001 Y-Reg, lowered (dont know how much), saxo rear door card, standard front door card, 15" Wolfrace Hybrid Wheels...

The car itself has sustained light frontal damage and is a frankenstein on the inside:mad:

Anyway check out the pics...work commences tomorrow:D

looks alright,cat c?

Yeh its a cat c...if only that kink wasn't in the chassis leg!

how much did they want for that?

I brought it via an auction that my dad's registered on so all in all including the buyers fee etc I paid a little under £700 for it which I think is a bargain.

going to take a bit more than t-cut on that

You'd actually be quite surprised how little the damage is on the car!

Parts and jobs needed to be done on the car are as followed;
- Bonnet (GOT IN SILVER)
- Front Bumper (GOT IN SILVER)
- Front Fogs (GOT)
- Front Panel
- Headlights (GOT)
- Drivers side arch (came with the car)
- Drivers side wing (won on ebay yesterday)
- Radiator
- Fan assembly
- Roof Aerial (GOT & FITTED)
- Sort out interior

Hopefully all in all it should be ready for the beginning of May.

Quik Update

Started stripping down the exterior and interior of the car.

Exteriors being stripped to reduce cost at the bodyshop as they want money to takes parts off the car so though id might aswell do it!

Got some pics of the kink in the chassis leg.

Interiors being stripped as it was a state when i brought it...gunna rip it all out and give it a good cleaning onces the suns out.

Also found some amp wiring in the passenger wheel arch so ripped that out and also fitted an aerial for the time being so no water could get in via the holes.

Might aswell so you my first proper purchase for this car...16" Superturismo GTs so once there on the Wolfrace Hybrids will be up for sale as I cant stand them!

Wiring for the lights has been tampered with so thats one more thing ill have to sort out...gunna have to try and find some pull for the lights at a scrappy.

Bit more of an update for today...

The guy that had the car before decided to be a proper chav and wrap cheap ass carbon film around the clock surround to make the car look cool...**** that!

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00075.jpg

So started to peed it while it was on as I haven't got the patience with the car at the minute especially after finding out its gunna cost me £150 for a replacement fuel cap lock and also the remote central locking key and blade inc. vat, not to mention the fact that they have to get a transponder code and also key code as i don't have the original one:mad:

Anyway, started to peel it and this is what it looks like;

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00076.jpg

will have it finished once i get home after school tomorrow and hopefully have the front seats out aswell!

Slightly worse for wear and I can't believe the mess the previous owner made... That is mental!!!

Not bad for a project though mate!!!

Uz
21-04-2008, 10:25 PM
Yeh the mess was unbelieveable...i even found girls underwear in the boot of the car...

also have to buy a parcel shelf for the car as that wasn't there along with the exhaust!

Yeh it isn't a bad project at all...not gunna take long with the inital bits n bobs but the real project begins once the cars back from the bodyshop:D

Bit more of an update...

managed to get the front drivers sear out with very little problem...all the bolts came updone pretty easily!

But when i lifted it up to unplug the seat sensor i was amazed to find that the seat sensor plug had been cut off at some point and replaced by crimp connectors...

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00077.jpg

another problem for me...gonna be spending a long time at the scrappy after i find every little last bit that i need:mad:

Once the drivers seat was out i started on the passenger seat...first two screws at the back of the seat came out perfectly with no problems:) and so did the one on the sill. But then came the on on the exhaust tunnel:mad: I found that the srew had been rounded:mad::mad: So out came the mallet and put a bigger torq bit into the the screw and gently hit it in a bit with a mallet to allow it to take form and then undid it:)

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00081.jpg

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00082.jpg

Right then now that thats done and ready for a good cleaning I started on taking the rest of the carbon film off from the surround!

10 mins later after taking layers of the film off the surround was a good as new...

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00084.jpg

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00085.jpg

Right then all the seats are out...all thats left to do now is;
- carpet
- front and rear door cards
- all other plastics on the interior
- seat belts

once everything is out i can start on making the inside look nice and start fittin' proper stuff in...that is 106 and not saxo:D

Started tiding out the car 2day as the car was an absolute tip!

After about half an hour of the hover on the carpet and everything around else the car it came out completely transformed!

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00087.jpg

Also started the transformation to the interior of the car and started to ripped out the interior and first thing was the saxo rear door cards...

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00088.jpg

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00089.jpg

Also started on the de-wipering the rear...

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00090.jpg

gunna finish it off it a bit and get some pics up of it finished.

So as you can see it was mostly tiding up 2day!

started on taking the dashboard apart to day...

for what you might ask...now that is a secret:p

dont worry 'cause this will be completely different to what both Dargs & JonnyH have done:D

Lets just say it will house 2 ipods upright within their own housings:eek:

Have started designing how i want the dash to be and ill will be putting up the final designs when i'm finished...

Havn't been able to finish the dewipering as the wiper is stuck on with what could be rust:mad:

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00092.jpg

All the buttons on the bottom of the centre section will stay where they are and the rest will be altered acording!

It will also hold my Snooper s6 neo within the housing within its own housing:eek:

So all in all that will be my Alpine IDA-X100 in the original slot, 2 ipods next to each other housed with docking and also my snooper...how am I gunna do that you might ask!?

Anyway seeing it was the evesham meet for the west midland lads i went and picked up my Magnex Twin Oval exhaust (big thanks to shunteruk), got it home and gave it a good clean and got rid of all the tar and surface rust...looks good as new

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00102.jpg

got around to fitting it and realised I was missing a pipe as the system is not long enough due to my cat being on the mani:mad:

Dunno wat i'm gunna do:confused: probs have to get a pipe fabricated for it to fit (unless i can get one from magnex for sumut)...ah well wat can we do now n i don't really want to sell it on!

Basically the pipe i need is to go from the end of the manifold to the start of the middle pipe on the Magnex system!

Uz
29-04-2008, 05:21 PM
Bit of an update today...

Rang around a few places including Magnex about my exhaust.

To cut thing short I can't fit it due to it not being the correct on for the car:mad:

I can't fit a decat pipe due to the brackets on the centre box are in the wrong place so its up for sale...if my 2000 W-Reg comes back anytime soon from the bodyshop I may try it on there and see if it fits!

Right guys hunts out for a new exhaust...

Tbh m8 u should look at what the mileage is on the car also what reg & mileage is and mainly what the extent of the damage is.

So far I've done 2 106 Quiksilvers and 2 206 Quiksilvers all of which I brought with my dad and had them repaired from a m8 in Evesham!

Car will be going into the bodyshop at the start of june as the Guy who does all the bodywork for me & my dad has still got to finish our 2 206 Quiksilvers...

I couldn't photoshop the aerial but that will be going aswell and also the car has a gti spoiler and that will be getting removed:eek:

The TH Monos will come as soon as I sell the wheels that I don't need anymore!

Some of the parts have arrived that will be need to repair the car i.e. the drivers wing, front panel!

Very quick and small update...

Been up to the local peugeot dealer to find out about the caliper bolts for the 206 GTi calipers.

After talking to a lady yesterday over(who blatenly didn't know what she was on about lol) and told me they only do a kit for them which was £25 each side.

I though stuff it and go in and found out they do do them individual and they are £3.16 inc. vat each...not back for £13 for all 4!

Anyone think about doing this conversion and don't get the bolts with the calipers the part number is 440517.

So have order a set 2day and should be here tomorrow unless the warehouse hasn't got any.

Also rang up GSF car parts for brakes and pads for the conversion and I can get a set of vented Brembo Sports Disc 266mm for £40 and the complete set of pads are £30.

I'll use the original brake line that are on the car at the moment for the time being and get some goodridges later on!

No bad for the whole conversions going to cost me £150:D

Took the arch liner off today which was a right little mission as the clip hold it on at the wall of the arch behind the wheel would come out...

so with a bit of a hev ho I ripped it out...the arch liner was knackered anyway as there was a hole from where the wheel had been rubbin against it.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00228.jpg

Right just to do the other side now as that got a hole from the tyre rubbin against it.

Front panels still to come:mad: contacted the seller and he told me that the panel was sent back due to the address being wrong...his faulty should have checked the address before posting...haven't had any of the other bits that i've brought being returned to sender due to an address being wrong so what went wrong with this one??

Bit more of an update...

Got up this morning and it was chucking it down...I had no worries about water gettin into either car as I had covered the other one up so no water would get in...great!

But no when I got to this car I got in and it felt wet under my feet...looked down n found that there was water there:mad:

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00260.jpg

How the hell did that get in...

After about half our looking at all the different place where the water could through I had nothing to blame it on:mad:

But then I checked the sunroof and saw a gap between the base and the glass and saw that there was a seal missing from it (even more costs for me:mad::mad:)

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00261.jpg

Cant see it very well but it inbetween the silver bit and the glass where the seal is missing.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00262.jpg

Only reason I worked this out was because i checked the sunroof on the other car.

So I rang up Peugeot and they gave me a price for the seal.

£36...****ing hell...it's a piece of rubber:mad:

so i'm on the hunt for a second hand sun roof if its cheap enough.

So all the windows, sunroof & doors are open in the sun waiting for it to dry out...

for some bizzar reason nothing else was wet in the car:confused:

Uz
29-05-2008, 06:33 PM
Right then worked on the car abit more tonight seeing my dad came home early and could give me a hand with it...

First things first...had to wrap up the roof so no more water got into the car.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00277.jpg

After that it was of with the old bonnet and on with the new.

Also replaced the driver side hinge as it was bent.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00271.jpg

Once that was on I put the wing on.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00275.jpg

Once that was one I lined up the bonnet...but wont close due to the front panel being mangled.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00276.jpg

Also took the water bolt out of the drivers arch and found it was crushed.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/WorcestersFinest/Quiksilver%20No%202/DSC00274.jpg

Also sorted out the power steering as it wasn't working.

Changed the grey relay thats for the power steering pump as it was knackered.

Also got the power steering pump motor to refit into its bracket as its fallen out due to the accident.
