Bin on here a few months now, finally got round to making my progress blog :) found this 1.1 inde a couple of months back on auto trader, 70k on the clock 12months tax and mot, car completley standard. £1500 later and she was mine !Here she is wen i got her: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/olliewintle/media5.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/olliewintle/media.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/olliewintle/media3.jpg

The first thing i decided to do was get a sound system, I wanted good quality however im on a pretty tight budget, I got a LG head unit, front alpine speakers, 2 inphase 12" subs with 900w amp, and some vibe 6x9s, i got the 6x9s and front speakers connected up to a 600w amp
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/olliewintle/DSCF0457.jpg the 6x9s are in the parce shelf now :) in between having the sound system done the car has been broken in to twice, i made a thread about one of the braking ins if any1 wants to see, so gotta cobra alarm now :)

Next i picked up some lexus lights, lol i know.. i dont like em either my standards are goin bak on tinted some time this week , ill take £25 for them deliverd if any1 wants em btw.

Next was a longlife exhaust/backbox/ tail pipe, £130 fitted, they were also flogging some wolfrace induction kits as well for £30 so i thought why not,
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/olliewintle/Booty.jpg

Again a lot of you arent goin to like this but i picked up a set of fox evo 6's 17" alloys for £80 from thequiksilverkid, ive now refurbished them in white, they arent fitted yet though. I made a thread about them a while back , anyway here they are: Before: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/olliewintle/B4.jpg After:http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/olliewintle/DSCF0446.jpg
In between all of that u probbaly noticed i debadged back badges, and de-wiperd. Next was the lowering, bought some 40mm spax springs from potn for £50, and had the torsion bar lowerd about 45mm, liam106 done it for me for £100 :) http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/olliewintle/DSCF0461.jpg
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/olliewintle/DSCF0460.jpg
Ive also got the full gti body kit, its just been sprayed, the spraying cost £300, the kit alltogether cost about 150, took me a while to find it all as i got it all seperatley, the kits being fitted saturday, the arches are also being rolled the same day and the 17s are goin on then too.

Roll on the gti kit !

I reckon it would look better without the bumpstrips but thats just my opinion :)

Ollie
28-04-2008, 09:36 PM
fergies old 1.1 was one of the main reasons i wanted to go with the gti kit :) side stips will come off soon enough wen i get some dough

The bumper is now better, it just needed popping back out once fully fitted.

Its looking good in the pics, it was totally transformed in the one day, color code the strips as they protect the door in car parks.

Smiff
28-04-2008, 11:19 PM

i really enjoy reading blogs like this! its all well and good people saying to just buy a gti or quiky or whatever, but i love seeing the transformations in the lower spec cars to look that good! i really like it, all credit to mat for the job he's done too!

i think the wheels are a bit big personally but it seems your mighty happy so good on ya. a nice colourcoded gti engine would go down a treat under the bonnet now, dont waste time on rear discs tho, their not worth the hasle really tbh.

Ollie
02-05-2008, 06:00 PM
cheerz aidy, and yes mat did a really good job :) i know wat u mean about 17s, but it does sit nicely, however wen people are in the bak it does rub a litle, thinking about down grading to some 16s :|

im sure ive heard this can be done , but tbh if u gonna adjust the arches anyway u may aswell get the bumpers , but then again spraying does set u bak a few dollar, if i remember ritley wen i asked about the general opinion was u need the front gti bumper and the back can be modified (might be other way round) I got to mats garage at about 9 , and me was on my way home by about 7, that was with about and hour and a half for lunch too :)

And if i remember correctly, some other small jobs had to be done before the wheels would physically fit without catching the trailing arms. If the kit has most of the fixings, like ollies, then i just drilled all the holes and clipped them on. It looked well once finished, it made me want my first 106 back, as that had gti kit and 17`s, but a s1.
