Well I thought I may as well start a Progress Blog for my car, this is how it looked when I bought I back in November 2007:

The first thing I did was remove the door handle trims:

Next on the list was colour coding the mirrors, so I bought this and got to work:

When finished they looked like this:

They looked alright but the big test was how they would look on the car itself. In the end I was pleasantly surprised and I think it looks much better:

So far that is all I have done to the car itself, but today I also passed my test after the 2nd attempt :D.

Time for an update...
Well the past 3 days have consisted of nothing but rain, but finally this morning there were clear blue skies, which allowed me to clean the car and finally do something about the layer of pollen and sand that was on it.
These first pictures give an idea of the thin layer of grime that was all over the car:

So to tackle this problem and try and give the car a proper clean I got this together:

Hoping that the weather would hold I started work and gave the car a wash and also gave claying a go for the first time, im really impressed with the results, the paints surface is as smooth as glass and already reflecting really well:

Sadly just after this the typical English weather put an end to any further work, but hopefully if it’s sunny in the next few days I can finish the job.
very tidy mate, u got any plans for it

Time for another update…
I did manage to finish the cleaning process that I mentioned in my previous post the next day, however at the time due to bad weather I wasn’t able to take any pictures of the full car, but these two pictures should help give an idea of how well the wax worked when freshly applied:

The glass was also beading really well after a coat of Rain X:

Anyway im in the process of acquiring some new parts at the moment so all being well there should be some more updates soon.

A very tidy example youve got yourself there. Great effort on the mirrors too.

Very clean, it looks mint. Good job on the mirrors and the cleaning - good range of products you're using.
Alloys would be a good next step.
Looks awesome!!! any updates?

No updates at the moment. The car needs a good clean, as once again its covered in a thin film of grime. But im waiting on a few new parts and still trying to track down a set of GTI Alloys in good condition on ebay.
So until then, there properly won't be any major updates.
Also thanks for all the positive comments that i have recieved so far, glad you like it :D.

Ok time for another small update:
I replaced the old metal style rear wiper with the more modern looking plastic wiper arm.
Before:

After:

Nothing major, but i think it's an improvement.
Still to do:
Replace Rocker cover and Gasket
Replace Front & Rear Bumpstrips
(Under neumorous layers of Autoglym Bumper Care they are in pretty bad condition and quite scuffed).
Replace wheels with GTI "Raptor" Alloys
Remove a few various dents and light scratches

It's been a while since I updated this, so here goes.
As part of my on going project to clean up the appearance of the engine bay I removed the battery tray as it was starting to corrode, then sanded it down and resprayed it with Hammerite.
Before:

After:

All being well I should have some more updates over the coming weeks/months regarding improving the appearance of the engine bay.
But the main update is that I bought a set of 5 Mint condition "Raptor" Alloy wheels complete with bolts:

Im really pleased with them and all being well I aim to fit them within the next few days.
