Thought I better do a blog! so here goes!

Bought the GTi on the 12th of January 2008 for £4500, quite a bit but its worth it to me :D

Loved it from the minute i saw it. Ill spare you pictures but you can imagine an standard black GTi in pretty much mint condition.

The number of miles I had to drive on the day i got her was respectable at 742 . By the time I got home it was dark and I neeeeeded sleep but still having not driven it i didnt get much, I was like a little kid.... the next day was when it begun

Edit:

Thought I had better put in some info so you guys can see what mods I have done/doing/want

Wow! I had never driven a car like it, I had driven other GTi's but this one felt much less loose and generally not like it had been ragged everyday of its life...that was about to change :D

The rest of the blog will become a compilation of events, less chronologically organised but Ill try to be as detailed as possible! :)

Thats exactly what I was like when I put them on, needless to say I like them now :D

Also they are in the "body shop" to be sprayed white :D

I think she needs lowering to pull it off but im still worried about the B-Road handing...

Leading on from my last post the wheels are in the body shop (me shed ;)) getting ready for a nice refurb in white.

Fantom

Well the bumpstrips are finished and put back on the car! Unfortunately the car is filthy and looks a total different colour to the bumpstrips but that should be solved when I have time to give the car a good wash and polish :)

Edinnit
12-11-2008, 08:37 PM
at the moment its sitting on the fornt two wheels, it looks like it could have quite easily fallen onto the front drivers side and the rear drivers side wheels

If it was solid though then fair play

Fantom
12-11-2008, 08:47 PM
Ah right i see what you mean, na it was fairly solid, made sure by leaning on that wheel and it showed no signs of going anywhere, what I was worried about was it rolling on the jack wheels into that wall lol

Anymore plans?

Im not sure but being 20, the high performance mods like cams and ITB's or chargers are out of the question for a little while...

I do like the idea of buying an engine and building it up ready for when this one dies, or insurance gets cheap...

Any suggestions?

Hi mate,

The respray is courtesy of insurance because someone backed into my car, I dont really have the money to lower it, well I do but I would want to do it properly and last time I looked it was around £600 for just parts! and that was for 35mm

and the braces cost me £52 so I couldnt argue with that!

On a different note I should have a blue led dial conversion kit coming tomorrow :) aswell as some brembo max discs for the front :D

Hi Mate,

Yeah I could go down that route but want to keep the handling good, want a set of coilovers and bilstien adjustable shocks for the rear :)
coilovers dont always mean good handling most the time there to soft or to harsh,if you want good handleing go for eibech or how ever you say it there the best springs apparently and do handle very well then just get shockers for the price you can get them for roughly around 200 if your looking at 600 thats silly money fo lowering a car that will only need 300 +fitting but im sure you can do that

Fantom

yeah but for a descent st of coileys your looking 600 min for just the front the rearslike 100 for shocks dependomng if you want new or used .its a pricey option and in all honesty youl never change the ride height .i had coileys on my clio and never changed them just found the right height and stuck with it (100mm) but my pugs lowered 60 and it glues to the rolled with very m,in imal body roll ,i can o into roundabouts at 55-60 if i chose to

I could use some opinions and ideas as to where to progress...

Im not sure whether to strip + slag with cage and buckets or something like that... or make it a nicer place to be with a carpc and all that jazz

a bit torn between the two... that and it seems to be playing up at the moment and im not loving it

Those dials look ace fella.

Brembo max discs? Heard good things about them. :)

Also to add to above post I would normally say strip it, but with it being a GTi and you get the leathers and all that malarky and you've spent the money to get the GTi I would keep the interior. If you spent little money on the GTi in the first place I would understand stripping it out etc etc.

But as much as I love some of teh GTi's on her that are stripped out I've always been against it. I would love the interior too much. :)

Must admit they are one of my favourite mods to date (Dials) :)

Yeah I find them great so far! (brakes)

Anything you would do in my shoes? And do you think it should take precedence over lowering?
