Alrite, looking for a bit of advice, i'm thinking of getting a 4-2-1 raceland manifold and was just wondering if; 1. has anyone done this to a 1.1 and 2. wheres the best place 2 get it fitted in the central belt?

Cheers.

It has came up and i'm sure people have done it so sure it can be done, TBH though if your looking for a performance gain you won't see very much, you will get a different louder tone though, Probablly best posting this in the exhuast question it will get answered alot quicker.

As for fitting it's not a hard job to do, Most reputable garage's should beable to do it.

ahhh. i found a manifold on ebay for £130, says its for a peugeot 106 1.1 8v, so would imagine it would work eh. maybe have to give CRD a wee bell to see what they say. Would have 2 decat aswel id imagine.

Well if it's a 98 Zest the Cat will be a standalone unit just after the down pipe,

if it's 2000 onward there will be a Cat in the manifold also,

If its a pre 2000 you will be ok to go with a decat with not many problems as pre 2000 cars only have 1 lambda probe,

but 2000 onwards your Engine managment light will come on as they have 2 Lamba sensors, 1 upstream and 1 down stream to check the cat's working,

you can get a lambda sleeve for about £16 or so from GMC but people who do this have varied success.

Edit: Re-wrote as it didn't make much sence first time, also added a little bit more info.

I wouldnt touch crd with a barge poll, give ecosse a call if you dont like your money that much, atleast they know what they are doing. If your in falkirk area, sounds of silence are spot on, they build exhausts from scratch so fitting a stock part is no problem. I got a 2.5 inch straight thro pipe made up and fitted onto the piper back box i had and they only skinned me for a £100. Bargain.

As long as you are capable with the spanners and have good tools - you should manage the manifold yourself fairly easily. Only issue might be if the nuts don't come off the studs easily / studs snap / studs come out.

Most garages should be able to do it no problem. The two manifolds i've had fitted were done by the local garage.

I think all pre 2000 8v's have the same port spacing for the exhaust. So you should be safe with any pre 2000 VTR manifold. Only think that might be an issue is the oil filter location - but it should be the same on all 8v's. Should.
