You cars sexy mate :)

"the engine is fine for now" ;) haha

SidewayzSam
11-04-2008, 12:44 PM
I dont think you cant go wrong using black on any colour 106. Yellow, Red, Blue, Silver.. they all look awesome.

The engine could do with a proper map as its running catcam 708's on a standard unlocked ECU.. basically just idles really rough and stalls eventually if u dont tap the throttle.

My priority is the front end.. which is gonna be almost identical to urs Joe, except i may get a carbon bonnet if i can afford it  oh and i want all the strips doing gloss black.

The release bearing on my clutch is foooked so im gna have to get another one soon, still debating whether to stick with the paddle clutch or go for a standard valeo

Joe West
11-04-2008, 09:02 PM
Mine idles like that and it aint even cammed haha

The front end will look sexy mate, I was thinkin about a carbon fibre bonnet too.
But im happy enuff with a lello one :)

Plans have changed slightly now. Spoke to my dad and told him how much bodyWRX had quoted me for the front end, he said he could get the whole car resprayed for less

Now just the difficult task of saving up about £500 on part time wages!

SidewayzSam

Summers approaching so that means im not gonna be at college for a couple of months, gives me the chance to get some more hours in at work and crack on with my car.

Plans for the summer:

Front end respray (smoothed bonnet and remove bar in bumper)
Spray bumpstrips gloss black
New Valeo paddle clutch
Flocked dash (maybe flock the doorcards too)
Re attatch sideskirts
New rear badge
Black MR rear lights
3" pugsport
Carbon doorcards if i dont flock the originals
Carbon door handles (exterior)Thats all i can think of for now. Looks like im not gonna see much of this summer lol. Once all thats done, gonna have to start saving for next years insurance :( ... and hope that the engine doesnt decide to blow up :D

Well it was my Birthday the other day, mum and dad have said they will get the front of my car resprayed for me! My dad runs a Pug dealership so will be getting it done at his bodyshop

Went down to Dorset for a few days with the GF, 700 miles in 4 days.. £80 in fuel. I didnt think that was too bad, considering i sat at 100 most of the way and occasionally put my footdown to play with a few cars!

Got my tickets for the FCS, so need to get cracking with the car before 22nd June! It should be sprayed by then :D

Randomly went and bought a new headunit yesterday

Bin looking at it for a while, as i like my alpine stuff. Its the X100, cost me £280 and doesnt even play CD's lol. But its got a colour screen and is bluetooth ready (+ another £80 for the bluetooth adapter!!)

Locked my brakes last night and lost the back end. Hit a curb and bent my track rod end and damaged two of my wheels  One wheel is pointing the wrong way so its a little hard to drive! lol.

Went and got a new track rod and track rod end this morning, only cost 20 quid so hopefully getting that on tonight. This should fix the problem, and touch wood, theres nothing else broken. The wheels dont appear to be buckled, just badly curbed so they'll need to be powdercoated again.

Just what i dont need a month b4 FCS, im skint enough as it is!

Fixed the steering, got the bent track rod off its incredible that nothing else broke when you see the damage its done to that. Ill get a pic up in a sec!

Got one spare wheel im putting on today then getting the one i take off refurbed.

I got away with it really, considering where i was when it happened and the speed i was going. Thank god for GTi 6 brakes!

They had been refurbed about 5 months ago, and i cleaned them all the time, they just look dirty in the pics because the brakes were getting used a lot before i did the damage! lol.

But hey, im happy.. at the time i thought id broke a lot more things. Gonna get the wheels sorted today

Just got my French plates through the post too!

Wow you made a proper job on that track rod end

Did it not bend the wishbone? Or crumple the floor where the wishbone mounts?

When I stuck my quiksilver into a kerb it completely bent the wishbone and the floorpan of the car :(

Haha you truely did do a proper job with that track rod end :p

I saw you out last night, was that after the repairs?

Did it on Sunday night, AA took it straight to my mates garage.. got it on a ramp the next day, checked everything over and went to get the parts, fixed by Monday night.

Went to get one of my tyres swapped to my spare wheel on Tues, spent about 2hrs farting around with that as the young lad that did it hadnt balanced the wheel properly the first go. Then gave the car a good clean, fitted the french plates and stuck my stickers on.

Yeh saw you Tuesday night, i left pretty much straight after you got there...

Wow you made a proper job on that track rod end

Did it not bend the wishbone? Or crumple the floor where the wishbone mounts?

When I stuck my quiksilver into a kerb it completely bent the wishbone and the floorpan of the car :(

To be honest, when i did it i thought that was that for the car.. made a huge bang as i hit the curb... but i seem to have bounced of the left curb and gone straight up the right side one... the wheels arent buckled and the wishbones look fine. Last thing we checked was the track rod, looked across and thought.. hmm.. that doesnt look very straight lol!

Got away with it big style i think! :D

Spent this evening glossing my rear bumpstrip and my front badge. Its not a perfect job, but they're shiny and look ten times better than they did before.

I'll upload some pics tomorrow when the laquer has dried and i've got them back on the car.

Hopefully get the sidestrips off tomorrow and do them, leaving the front ones 'till after the respray as i think they're glued on to my car

tip on the side ones mate, break the clips nearest the door to get a grip on them and pull them off across the car, it will slide off leavin the clips still intact in the car.

I just took the rear quarter sidestrips off, used some pliers to squeeze the clips together and pulled from the outside. Came off without breaking anything :D And they just pop back in with a gentle push!

Just realised i havent got the right torx screw to get my front door cards off so cant get to those bumpsrips

Rear is drying now then gonna stick it on see how it looks.. its nt perfect but will do til i can afford to get them done properly!

Im trying to get them as shiny as possible, so ive sanded them loads and put lots of coats of primer, paint and laquer. probably about 3-4hrs to do the back ones including getting them off.

the front half slide towards the back and the back to the front, just slide them u will see they move a few mm, keep doing it gently. dont worry about the clips either, u cant get them off without snapping them, i picked 20 up from pug on narborough road this mornin for 3quid summat. be carefull not to break the brackets on the inside of the strips though, as the clips are useless without them. call me if u want me to explain better its a bit weird. 07961810238

Ok will give that a go when the weather decides to change.

They way i got the rear ones off seems better tho as the clips just squeeze together then pop straight out without the risk of breaking them.
And my front door cards need to come off anyway as they rattle around!

Yes i would :D

Its had a new bonnet (keeping the badge). Ripples in the front wings filled. Bar removed from front bumper. Then its being resprayed from the bottom of the windscreen forward (including my dodgy arches). All the bumpstrips painted gloss black (hopefully a better finish than my attempt).

Hopefully be getting it back saturday, so ill be round at Tanya's with it for you to have a gander ;)

All the other aftermarket rears are a bit chavtastic, the MR ones are the only ones i'd go for, and the dark ones will really suite mine i think.

I'd stick with the ones you've got, go well with your colour coded bits n bobs!

After:

Had a new bonnet, ripples in the wings filled and the bumper de-barred. Just need to get a new slam panel now as its holding the bonnet a bit high because its bent, and some better mesh for the bumper.

Decided i need to go lower, so thats next on the list. Along with some new brake disc's and pad's all round and a new clutch.

I fell in love with your car today at FCS [I was parked next to you in the Quiksilver].
I think it looks absolutely spot on. Good work.

My standard front suspension has had it, so I now have an excuse to purchase a whole new set-up.

I've decided on:

- Bilstein Group N Shock + Eibach 50mm Springs
- Powerflex Front & Rear Mounts

Also in need of some new front discs so:

- Genuine Peugeot 306 GTi-6 vented front discs
- Genuine Peugeot 106 GTi rear solid discs
- EBC Greenstuff Pads all-round

And possibly:

- 3" Pugsport System or Magnex Twin Oval System

A new clutch is also needed ASAP!
Oh and I WILL be changing the rear lights within the next month or two ;)

good plans.... but get some other pads as there's been some mixed views on the EBC Greenstuff ones...

and its about bloody time for the rear lights :p .....

I've got them at the minute, they're awesome while they work, but they just dont last very long!

Not sure what discs to go for, so if anyone has any suggestions I would be eternally grateful :D

And also, if you know of someone selling a billie grp n suspension, let me know!

I'm now working full time after finishing my college course and I've also kept my part time job, so I'm earning three times what I used to :D

Which means... more money to spend on my car!

Last month I bought a new Valeo clutch kit which still needs to be fitted. My release bearing is ridiculously noisey now, sounds horrible.

Im still looking to swap my rear lights for some standard ones. I had a lot of people interested in the swap but it never happened. So if anyones interested, PM me.

I've decided that I'm not going to get a Bilstein suspension. I can't justify spending £500, when I only use my car to get to work and nipping here and there. So for now I'm after some standard front shock absorbers to replace mine, which have had it. Then I will be getting the torsion bar re-done so my car isnt wonky

The only major purchase I still want to make is a Pugsport.. Either a brand new one or a good condition used 3" one.

Thats it for now.. No pics as its not changed recently. Will update when I have completed the above :D

Mini Update

New clutch fitted... no more noisey bearing!

The lexus lights have now been replaced by some standard items (thanks to Forrest72).

And I now have a nice Magnex system :D

Poor phone pic, and dirty car!

Just need to sort out the blowing from the manifold. I think it needs new joins

I also bought some new front shocks and top mounts that are waiting to be fitted.

Next on my to-do list:

New wheel bearings, Brake discs & pads, Lower rear & fit front shocks.

And i've been looking at these too...

Just spotted this looks really smart, soooo glad you changed the rear lights too, de-barred bumper makes that front end too.

And just my opinion, but those polished lip pug alloys would look SEX

Work has finished on my car for this year now.

Done this year: de-barred bumper, resprayed bonnet/bumper/front wings, gloss black bump strips, magnex full system, standard rear lights fitted, new genuine Peugeot alternator, new genuine Peugeot clutch, new genuine Peugeot front shocks & top mounts, new headunit, new rear brake discs & pads.

Think I achieved a fair bit considering i've only had it since Feb.

My insurance is due in Feb, im still in two minds what to do with my car. My options are... buy a cheap run-around, save money and throttle body my 106 while its off the road.
Or... save up for my insurance, keep it on the road, get some Bilstein suspension on and tidy up all the little bits and bobs that I want doing.

I would really like to strip my engine down and rebuild it, so that its running spot on, spend some time on the suspension and get it handling spot on aswell. But I really want that induction noise!!

So keep an eye out in the new year, ill be starting a new blog depending on what I choose to do :p
