alrite chaps, new to this forum and very impressed with some of your cars.

could do with some pointers on wiring an amp through, ive wired a new headunit in, and bought a an xplod sub/amp off a mate.

basically, i'm alrite with the actual wiring and where everything goes between the battery/headunit/amp, but am confused on which is the best way to get the power to the amp.

take a wire directly from the battery? bridge from another source? also, how do i get the carpet up to run the wires through

cheers!

carpet just comes up when you take the clips off and id run it straight from the battery to the boot

Under the rubber seal, just pull it up ;)

yeah straight from the battery, i had a sony amp and sub and thats how i did mine. run the wires right down the side of the carpets, just by the doors. also make sure that the power cable is run down one side and and the phono wires (usually blue, go to the amp) and every other wire down the other side. cos otherwise the power cable distorts the sound if all down one side.

i wouldnt run them by the doors, there is NO slack at all in the carpet to fit the cables under nicely, the carpet never goes back down properly in my experience.

not right alnog the doors, but on the floor next to the doors if you know wot i mean, no point putting it straight down the middle, thats just a pain in the arse.

not that much of a pain really theres only 4 bolts on the seat to come out, 1 holding the seat belt runner on and the 1 or 2 on the rear seat brackets, easy to do and is loads neater

argh, i'm NEVER getting a sub/amp again.... pain in the bloody arse! :p

Good luck with it matey, i would persevere with the wire under the carpet method otherwise it gets messy, if you got the power cable through in the first place its all plain sailing from there! :p :D

I've just finished mine today and i put the wires by the doors on the curve bit from the bottom to the side. Its alright but as u said there isnt much slack so im having to hope the carpet will stay there just with the rubber seals!!! If you can, get some spare wire to use to pull connector and stuff through behind the head unit and from the battery to the car.

just finished doing it today, managed to get the carpet up and back down pretty tidily, ran the cables through either side by the doors.

biggest pain was getting the wire through to the battery from behind the glovebox. got there eventually though..

cheers for the help :)

nah had to push it through a really small hole, got an electrical rod thing and attached the wire and shoved it through. no chance of getting it in from the engine side, couldn't see the hole at all.

yeah i did mine along the doors, on my old series two 106, carpet went back fine, just depends on the thickness i suppose. getting the power cable thru is a bollock ache tho, got a coat hanger and shoved it thru. did it on my cousin's corsa c too. they've got like little tubes already under the carpets to run wires so that was easy. thats the german geeks for ya, think of eveything. haha
