so, after much umming and ahhring as to what i wanted to do with my XSi i decided to go for a 1600 8v engine with R6 carbs.

i bought a second hand head from a guy off here and stripped it all down to be sent off for pot and polish etc.

Then came the block that i got off a mate, a 1600 from his 306 XSs. this was the stripped down for a rebuild.

I ordered piston rings, big end shells, main bearings and crank thrust washers.

Pistons with new shells and rings :

Next i went to QEP (only 5 mins from my house, which is handy) and spoke to Matt about getting the head done and supplying a cam and pulley.

just been back and picked the head up :

Along with the 285 catcam:

And vernier pulley:

Next step is to lap the valves in and build the head back up. then re-fit the pistons and put the bottom end back together.
