a fair bit has happened to my beastie since i got her so i though id better start a blog!

here is my 106 mardi gras, miami blue, 1.0.

they day i got her, she was standard as standard can be, except for her already dewipered!
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/01-11-07_1338.jpg

first step was to get her debadged and devinyled.... so that she now looked like this
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture103.jpg

then it was time for some little changes, so bought some leather seat covers, a new steering wheel, gearknob gaitor and handbrake gaitor
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture111.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture112.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture109.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture110.jpg

then decided to change the door cards over to all tie in with the leather additions i added to the car, so they went from standard to this
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture067.jpg

feelion
04-04-2008, 11:01 PM
then decided that the ikkle 13" steelies she had were just too small.. so off for a jaunt to burnley for her to change into.....

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture122.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture123.jpg

after taking her in to get the wheels balanced, i discovered that she needed new wishbones and a cv boot... courtesy of Chompy, we got that sorted!

decided while the wheels were off while the wishbones were being done, i though i would have a little clean up in there and painted my calipers and struts!

04-04-2008, 11:16 PM
well... last night went down to Matts because he very kindly offered to put my xsi wings and arch kit on!! after a nice leisurely drive and me getting lost (as usual), this is what happened to my car!

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture255.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture256.jpg
matt just about to cut out my arches!
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture266.jpg

couldnt resist a sneaky peek at the v6
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture260.jpg

then after fitting the front wings, grinding out the rear arches, fitting the strips, then reassembling her, i drove her home looking like this
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture270.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture269.jpg

then today, gave her a bit of a wash and here she is..... (still needs polished... doing that later!)
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture279.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/Picture276.jpg

mat106
04-04-2008, 11:27 PM
40mm would be perfect, mine is 30mm and you saw how that sits, another 10mm is what i need.

Gina_G
05-04-2008, 09:48 PM

Gina_G
05-04-2008, 09:56 PM
XSi enigne or Rallye enigne tbh AX GT engines are just way way way to old now. MInd you easy to get it on bike carbs tho but wont pass mot.

secret mistress ftw innit!!

feelion
05-04-2008, 10:05 PM
way too old old .... just like me then! lol............... retro ftw!

Gina_G
05-04-2008, 10:43 PM
lol you aint old for me haha

engine wise I think 1.4 xsi lump is easier to get hold of and wire in seeing as they are all non imobilised.

btw kilt only goes on if you have a busty wench outfit stashed somewere

loudandproud205
05-04-2008, 11:07 PM
yeah but ax gt engine goes straigt in no messing and has quicky power stariaght out box

mat106
05-04-2008, 11:14 PM
16 valve it. :p I would xsi it, and get some 4 stud suspension fitted. The 1.4 xsi engine is the one to get, or go for the better 1.6 xsi engine if there are any good ones out there.

Gina_G
05-04-2008, 11:20 PM
or buy matts engines out of his xsi then he can 16v his then

loudandproud205
05-04-2008, 11:34 PM
just buy a vts lol

feelion
05-04-2008, 11:40 PM
tbh tho. i got so many other things that need doing to her, a new engine is quite far down in the list, but if my gearbox is going the way i think it might be then i might well be getting a new engine sooner than i think!

Gina_G
06-04-2008, 12:12 AM

feelion
07-04-2008, 06:51 PM
todays progress: retrimmed the door cards as they were starting to come away on the corners... now look lush again

and fitted new front door speakers from the crappy standard ones which were all ripped and moth eaten!!! to some nice shiny new panasonic ones! oh my, what a difference in the sound now... lovely and clear, and no distortion at all.... its ace! :D

kinda neglected her for a bit as i had fallen out of love with her! but im slowly fallin for her again so decided to do a few more little bits to her.

On the door panel on the passenger side door, the paint work was truly awful... was all bubbled and had what looked like water runs under the laquer.. was a right mess, so i decided to spend a cople of days sanding her down and primered up ready for painting, which i did today! also decided that while i was in spray mode i had a mad notion to spray my mirrors too... so i did!

also changed over my repeaters to the oval smoked ones which i bought ages ago! only thing was, when i pulled the left hand one out, it came away from the connector and fell indoe the wing... i then thought it would be a good idea to stick my hand up through the inner arch, i got stuck when the arch decided to ping back doen on ym hand........ result.. a very sore hand with some rather fine scratches and a hefty bruise! got the connector back through the hole tho so it wasnt in vain!

Random thought but I think some graphite grey rims would look good on there. Something like the rover "storm grey" colour. Either that or dark gold colour. Think white rims, esp 5 spokers, are a bit overdone nowadays.

feelion
05-05-2008, 04:11 PM
lee.... find me a ax gt engine then i may consider puttin it in! (or you could!! *please*)lol

ax gt wiith 5 speed box would make world of difference to your car tbh

they are all 5 speed boxes anyway on the gt's.

the only downside of the ax gt engine is the manual choke :( and as Gina-G said - they are way too old - did i mention i have a 1.4 xsi engine hanging around and gearbox :p

white wheels are horrible. only good if you have an hour free at the end of everyday to clean the buggers.
as for the blue/gold look, i HATE scoobys with gold wheels, its so trash...but, a few years ago there was a blue xsi with gold speedlines doing the rounds, i think it was owned by a lass called Flick, looked ace and had a massive install.

be different and stand out.

chompy
13-05-2008, 04:58 PM

feelion
19-05-2008, 12:33 PM
okies... latest development with the beastie.........

this weekend i took her to Petes with Chompy to have a 4 stud conversion done... turns out there was a liiiiiitle bit more work needed to her than first thought! once they had got the front wheels off, it was apparent that my car was much more rusted up than first thought so getting the front struts off proved to be a royal pain in the ass...

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/4studconversion3.jpg

my track rod ends are goosed. bolts had seized and rounded off... finally got them off and new struts back on, complete with new shocks and 40mm lowering springs... which look sweeeeeeeeeeet!

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/4studconversion4.jpg

then onto the rear of the car which we thought would be a much easier job... no!! my rear beam was totally goosed, the rear drums were in a total state and my brakelines were all rusted away... infact i think its fair to say ive been drivin about with no workin rear brakes... no wonder i thought my brakes were shit!... anyhoos, getting the drums off my beam proved to be yet another pain in the ass, so it was decided that the whole beam should come off and replaced..... on goes an xsi (yay) rear beam, different dampers, on she goes, jobs a goodun!

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/4studconversion13.jpg

after a lot of problems gettin the rear shoes on and bypassin the brakelines and connecting my handbrake to the shoes (temp measure until new brake lines arrive and get refitted).. she was finally ready to get her wheels on......

slight problems getting the front brakes bled, but got there in the end!

also took off the air restrictor, and replaced with a fatter pipe... so noisy now! lol.... then discovered that i have blown my manifold... so not only did i have a well noisy car, she was also noisy and rattly and with a right loud exhaust!

anyhoos.... still to do on the car... new track rod ends, rear brake lines, new manifold........ thats all gettin done this week once parts arrive!

what a busy weekend... we were up till 3 am on sat and 3 am on sun getting this done... well i say i was doing it, i wasnt really... i was more observing, passin tools, and rolling fags for chompy.... so i was still kinda useful lol

as she stands now....

after a lot of problems gettin the rear shoes on and bypassin the brakelines and connecting my handbrake to the shoes (temp measure until new brake lines arrive and get refitted).. she was finally ready to get her wheels on......

slight problems getting the front brakes bled, but got there in the end!

also took off the air restrictor, and replaced with a fatter pipe... so noisy now! lol.... then discovered that i have blown my manifold... so not only did i have a well noisy car, she was also noisy and rattly and with a right loud exhaust!

anyhoos.... still to do on the car... new track rod ends, rear brake lines, new manifold........ thats all gettin done this week once parts arrive!

what a busy weekend... we were up till 3 am on sat and 3 am on sun getting this done... well i say i was doing it, i wasnt really... i was more observing, passin tools, and rolling fags for chompy.... so i was still kinda useful lol

as she stands now....

fee, i noticed when i fitted your rocker cover that theres a rubber ring missing from the top of the airbox hosing, makes an air tight seal. forgot to mention that, i did put a replacement bit in but it may have fallen out so you might want to check it:)

woo... this weekends progress! painted the wheels :D:D:D

could only do them 2 at a time due to only having 2 axle stands but im still feelin really tired so 2 at a time was just fine, as i had all weekend to do them.. they werent in that bad condition to be honest just some paint bubbling and a tiny bit of kerbing so sandin them was a doddle... thankfully!
primered:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/newwheels002.jpg
then painted
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/newwheels006.jpg
on the front
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/newwheels010.jpg

i ordered the original centre caps that went withthe wheels and decided against sprayin them black so for a bit of contrast to the black wheels i kept them silver but painted the lion in black

on the back of the car
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee287/feelion_2007/newwheels015.jpg

on and i also painted the calipers and rear drums blue... i know some of you will go 'ewww, tacky....' but i like it!

oh and i know theres a bolt missing :) goin on a scrappy hunt this week to find some

and those calipers are shockingly bright blue, still looks better than rusty ol ones doesnt it :)
