check with the manufacturer of the wireless receiver whether it's compatible with vista, also is it the software the computer doesn't recognise or the actual receiver after installing the software?

I had tha problem if you havent sorted it by now yo have to connect your pc directly into your router with a ethernet cable (mine was red) then you have to type in something like 192.20.1.1 (they aint the correct numbers maybe someone else nows them?) it was a right pain in the arse when i done it cos i had to take my whole pc downstairs to my router. anyway when you plug that red cable in and go on tha 192.?.?.? then you have to save the settings to wireless enable it, hope this helps to some extent?

What is the manufacturer of wireless card?

USB or PCI?

Manufacturer of router?

Have you installed the drivers for the card?

numbers were 192.168.2.1 to get onto the setup menu, just punch that into the URL on ur web browser.

if its a vista compatible part then try using the wireless utility that windows provides. on the software you installed should be a checkbox or something that says use windows to configure my wireless connections. make sure wireless is enabled on the router first though.

wireless router addy is 1 of 2

1: - http:/192.168.0.1
2: - http:/192.168.1.1

but then again vista is really not that good anyway

the trouble I had with vista and wireless was that it wouldnt automatically find the network. I got round this by manually searching for it and then connecting to it.
