Right

Any threads talking about racing or speeding on public roads, will as of today be deleted

There is more than a few cases of people being prosecuted these days using youtube/forums as evidence, but worse than that a lot of my close friends are active police officers and I've heard enough stories of kids screaming in agony and dying with limbs missing to know that racing on public roads is stupid

This is what track days are for kids!

So anything going on about "I beat a.." or "my car can do xxx speed in xx gear" etc.. will get deleted straight away

Thanks :)

I agree, its not clever and its not right, that is why ive still got a clean license after 6 years, keep speeding for a `safe` track day where you should go as fast as possible.

agreed. Tracks have nice run off areas (okay perhaps not at Quarry, Castle Combe).. roads have lamposts..

Since I've done a lot of trackdays I've calmed down a lot on the road. There just isn't the point

KAM : Slightly off topic but are you the guy who used to go as TwoWheeledTerror (TWT) off pgac??

I just sort of put 2 and 2 together with Will Gollop's 309

Well said Fuzzy :)

Can't deny it, we all have a little play on the road every now and then, but a public forum isn't the place be discussing it ;)

well done fuzz...

alright i expect everyone has done it/will do it from time to time, but i dont see the point, it just makes everyone eles' insurance go up if you get caught or bin your car.

Concentrating on running a company and occassionally making a little progress on the 309.

To be honest i think there is no harm in talking about it to other members, just the same as you would down the pub, a polic eofficer cold just as easily over hear your conversation there. However i do understand the importance of what your saying Fuzz.. and others.

I agree that we shouldnt host videos of racing etc, but general chit chat does no harm. However, Boasting and glorifying it is steping close to the line.

Do we not have a disclaimer for the site anyway....i.e do not attempt anything you read on the is site..bla bla do so at ur own risk n all that stuff???

Fuzzy Orange
25-04-2007, 09:07 PM
No cos disclaimers arent worth a thing in court

And it is actually now possible to sue a forum owner for the content on it

End of the day mate, I've lost friends from racing, and yeah I do still dirve a bit quicker than I probably should but I think its something we can keep off the forums :)

I totally agree been a few people down here that have lost lifes due to idiots,
And i know you said the no speaking of speeding and I beat this bla bla bla, but is it acceptable to talk about I beat 'X' on a track and I reached speeds of 'X' on a track, and i dont mean using the term track for a public road I generally mean track events :D

Good Call Fuzz!!

People blitzing it eveywhere they go is just stupid!!

Like everyone said theres definatly a line that is crossed with the way some people drive!

Ive known enough people in the last year to crash. One who has died very recently.

And its just not worth it!

I stick to the speed limits, as usually, if I'm in the car, I have the wife and kids with me. Hard to concentrate on the road with her hitting me for speeding:D

On the bike though, it's a different story............when it works:D

Totally agree, good shout fuzz, too many forums get thread after thread of i beat this, or his a pic on my mobile of my 1.2 corsa doing 95 and hitting the limiter, it's not big and it's not clever! It does give us youngsters who love cars a bad name, you don't hear of older enthusiasts getting a bad name, it's i think most of us young enthusiasts are a minority, the majority of youngsters fit the stereotype perfectly, they are knobs, and rightly so Phil doesn't want them banging on about their antics on here!

Bit of a rant sorry! I just don't like being called a boy racer cos my car may have a loud exhaust.

I think this forum is full of responsible people and keeps the trolls away nicely. Well moderated etcetera but there are a lot of irresponsible forums out there. I expect they never get in trouble either.

Oh, and to add my £0.02, I think speeding on public roads is a muppets game and I wont have any part in it personally. It's dangerous and killed a friend of mine who is very missed round here. Nothing wrong with showing off your bad ass car, but driving dangerously to show off is stupid.

Well said. Id rather drive slow in town so people can check out my car and be jealous  haha

On a serious note it is stupid because my pal was doing 80 in his nova on a back road when he spun off and crashed. He was lucky to be alive as a fence post came up through the bonnet between him and the passenger! Don't do it , and yes.....keep it to track days!

well i deffinately agree with this for many reasons
1. I have a 1.1 so i can't exactly speed lol
2. I make the speed limits on the roads around Leeds
3. My mate was at my house 2 years ago when one of his school mates turned up in his Dads BMW 330 brand new 05 plate, that he'd borrowed. he took my mate for a spin and one of my other mates offered to take me but for some reason i couldn't be arsed neither could my fiancee. well he left my house near Templemoor High School and speed off through the estate towards templenewsam 30 min later we got a call from My mate saying they had crashed. This guy Dan had driven about 5 min away all the way doing close to 100mph. he'd gone round the golf course there and took a S bend at 80 and went straight into a Tree (the corner is bad at 30mph, even though its national speed limit) He'd been Drinking! when we got there the car was a wreck, 1 of my mates had a 10" gash on his head(he was in the back) and my mate Kev looked like Mike tyson had gone psyhco on him, his head had swollen and blood was comming from his right eye and his ear was nearly ripped off. His airbag didn't deploy correctly and he's lost sight in his eye as the force of impact destroyed the lens and optic nerve. Dan wasn't breath tested till 3 hours later when he was JUST under the legal limit. Dan was fine and nobody had seen him since, we later found out he had crashed his saxo a week before and written it off. Police didn't charge him with dangerous driving or anything, he said a badger crossed the road and he swerved and was only doing 60mph. his dad is a millionaire and his uncle is a high ranking police officer, if that had anything to do with it i don't know, probably not but my mate thinks it does. but neadless to say it wrecked his life, he lost his job as a body mechanic/painter cos he had no depth perception and subsequently lost out on his final year of apprentiship. he is looking at over 100k compo money apparently but he'd rather have not got in the car

theres too many cases of silly people round mine doing crazy shit like tht, i hardlies ever enter someones car unless i know ho they drive before hand. But thts some unlucky stuff there

Chris106_1.1
11-09-2007, 04:13 PM
yep it is unlucky, its wierd cos he has about 5% vision i his right eye, he sees blackness straight ahead but out of the corner of his eye he can make out shapes colors etc, its like somebody put some black contact lenses on him, pisses him off royally cos when he turns to look at something its gone. he was a quality body repair man, he was one of the first in the country to mod a Focus ST (new one only 2 week old and brand new) did wicked work, but he could't do it anymore, what took him 10 hours before took him 25 after the accident

To add to how stupid this is, someone i know (not a mate) has literally just planted his Saxo in the side of a house after racing a Civic Type R around a estate.

Was literally 10 mins ago and just heard from his girlfriend that the paramedics think there is a chance he might be paralysed, not sure whats happening there at the moment though.

17 year old possibly paralysed?

Why you dont fukc about in cars.

Can't be bothered to read the whole post.. But street racing is one thing I'm against, I used to go all the time with a mate until we almost had a head on, after that, never again..

Not every one gets away easily (ie the lad Mikey's on about) I lost a really close mate who had also ploughed into a house.. he wasn't racing anyone but he still died..

Keep racing to the tracks imho..Fair enough it's still dangerous but at least it's not in a residential bit..
