standard head unit code?

Hi

My mum has just bought a cheap 106 on a 93 plate. The battery must have been disconnected for some time as the stereo doesnt work now. she was given the code but not sure how to input it as its a 4 character code but 2 of the characters are letters. can anyone help?

im assuming its an old cassette player, but isnt there just numbered buttons across the face? You just gotta turn the ignition on and there should be 4 stars on the screen, just input the code with the numbers!?
