Is it possible to easily fit a 106 gti standard bodykit on to a 2002 1.1? Just need to know if they are the same fittings.
cheers for any help.
regards
Pete
bumpers bolt straight on. arches require the rear quarter panel to be cut and then either drilled for the arch clips or have the arches and skirts bonded on.
looks good when done tho

yeah as aidy said, quite easy! just there is nowhere for the orignal clips to clip onto, so you will have to drill holes! wouldnt worry too much as long as you put some sealant on them once drilled so they dont rust later...
it will look the nuts :D
theres a chap doing a moonstone blue one round here....
I've put a GTi kit on my 1.1 Independence.... as said it does look the nuts and is by far the best mod i've done to the 106 to be honest.

Im in the middle of fitting 1 myself!
Side skirts bumpers and front archers go straight on but the rear arches are where things get interesting!
I would if i was u get a bodyshop cut the arches for u, because if u **** it up, ur screwed!
Best way to measure where u need cut them if u ensist on cutting them urself is to fit the arch then use a marker pen to mark where u need to cut to.
Hope this is of some help

Cheers guys thats all brilliant help and advice.
all i got to do now is find one...
regards
Just remembered you will also need new rear arch liners because the one's fom your 1.1 rear bumper are smaller, although the originals will fit they wont sit right. The front arch liners will still fit from your 1.1 bumper no problems.

a quicksilver bodykit will fit aswell
wile u got the bodykit off the car might as well put some mush in itand any other mods to them alot easyer than taking the bumpers off agin

How much do GTI kits fetch for, was thinking of it for a future mod ?
Also wa bout bodyshops, does anyone know the average price they cost, is it an expensive job sending your car to a bodyshop ?
I paid roughly £500 quid for my GTi body kit, which was second hand rear bumper, rear arches, side skirts and new front arches and front bumper. Front fogs cost me £65 off ebay. Body shop cost me another £500 for sprayin and fitting, also taking off the side rub strips, filling in the holes and colour coding the rub strips on the new bumpers. Could say it cost alot but was by far the best mod you can do on a flat arch model.

i am another one thinkin of putting a gti kit on my 1.1, but i like the shape of my flatish back arches so i was thinking about having gti bumpers with vtr arches and skirts, or even mk1 rallye arches and skirts? i think it will look immense jst need to find out if it will work. gonna do a photoshop soon to see how it looks.

There's no skirts on an S1 Rallye, just arches. I think they would look pretty good on an S2 too :)
BTW there's a full set of S2 Rallye/GTi/QS skirts and arches on the Rallye Register at the moment for £100 if anyone is interested. I think they are silver :)
