Hey,
Whats the best product to use to clean your engine bay and underneath your car?
What products do you use?
I'm looking to spend under £10 :)
Thanks.

LMFAO
For that money - get some engine degreaser - like autoglyms stuff or something like that
Go to a petrol station - spray it all over the engine bay - avoiding electrical stuff
Then blast it with a jet wash
But dont blame me if it wont start again LOL
Some places do steam cleaning - that gets them looking really clean!

Ha. But some products I've tried never work :-[
Do it when ya engines running, also steem clean would be better

Ive used that 2 part set from halfords, if you follow the instructions it works very well! I covered alternator, connector blocks etc with some newspaper, as well as side of car. Did a pretty good job, think it was about £8

depends how clean you want it mate, if you want under the car real clean then its going to take a while. check my thread in the progress section.
my best product that i swear by is 'gunk' the stuff is second to none. theres 3 types. a tin like nitromorse which is about £8, and aresol which is £6 and a hand spray which is £5. the best out of the 3 is probaly the aresol, spray it on, leave for about 10 mins, then spray off.

Use WD40, dont steam clean or pressure wash your engine bay EVER!

Trouble is with wd is it stays greasy for ages after and the surfaces collect dust easy ???

I use Viro-Sol from Clover Chemicals. It's based on naturally derived citrus solvents (although it does have added surfactants and sodium citrate), is a very powerful cleaner and degreaser and, IMHO, outperforms most 'purpose built' cleaners and degreasers. It is also very safe and can be used on wheel finishes and paintwork etc without damage and, again IMHO, is as good as Gunk for engine degreasing. It can be used neat or dliuted - even at 10:1 dilution it is still a very powerful cleaner. Costs about £7.00 for 5 litres and is available on-line through outlets like Mustang Cleaning Supplies, although you do have to pay for delivery on top ........... but 5 litres lasts a long time and it can be used for wheel cleaning and the like.
It is very easy to use - cover electrical components with plastic bags (alternator, ecu, connectors etc) spray on, leave for five minutes, agitate with a brush and rinse off. Repeat if necessary, attacking the stubborn 'stains' with an old tooth brush or similar. Being essentially 'natural' it is very green (in the political sense of the word - it's actually orange in colour). Finally it smells of oranges so leaves no nasty smells when your engine gets hot after treatment.
yeah heard of that abit ago... sounds the dogs.
as for steem cleaning theres a few places up my end that do it, run the engine till its hot, turn it off then cover all the electrical comonents and clean, the bulkhead manily on a 106 is the hard to reach part.

I have a video of myself on youtube or google video doing the whole 'hi im barry scott yada yada' GAY!!
Anyways, you want to get some TFR, which is an alkaline based formula, it's great, just put a bag over all the main electrical components and then soak it, literally soak the whole bay in the TFR and leave it for 10 minutes, then jet wash it all off. Dont be scared to wipe it all down and polish any painted parts eithjer... i won't take the piss :)

Autoglym mate, imo by far the best. Spray it on, leave for bout 30 secs, scrub with a brush then use plenty of hot water to wash it. Works a treat. Alternatively, cows are notorious for their like of engine oil (seriously!)
1).Park it in a field full of cows,
2).leave bonnet open
3).Wait for 24 hours,
4).Return
5).Car as good as moo!
