ive just about finished wiring up my sub and amp and have the power cable into the engine bay but i cant see how to physically connect it to the battery.
the cable i was supplied with has a loop on the end to go on a bolt but the + side of the battery has no bolts or anything to attach it to

Lift the clamp up off the positive side of the battery, push the hoop next to the terminal and push the clamp back down.

Mine is bent to the shape of the terminal.

When i last did a sub and amp install, I changed the positive battery clamp to a goldplated one with the ability to attach cables into it.

Cost about £15 but was well worth it

is the remote (usually a small blue) cable connected to the head unit?

Also check to make sure you've not blown any fuses.

also make sure its earthed properly, even if the bolt uve earthed it on is covered in paint it may not earth right.

Yeah, the earth cable is one of the major failing points of an install. If you have got it bolted down, make sure there is bare mtal exposed underneath the washer connector at the end of your earth cable

Its fiddly but try and get all of the loom under the cage then it should push right back in to where it should go
