View Full Version : Gear Stick Knob Removal

Hi Folks,

Im a total newbie to owning a car, let alone a Peugeot 106, and I have probably a very basic/ easy to answer question.

I want to remove my gear stick knob and replace it with another, however, i dont have the wee manual so not sure exactly how to do this. I assume its a screw off but i dont wannt force it incase i break summit. Also, need to know the diameter - though i suppose i can measure this if/when i get the knob off.

So there you go, my very basic question - how do you remove the gear stick knob in order to place a new one on and also whats the diameter?

I think its meant to twist 90 degrees counter-clockwise to unlock - then pull off

Everyone I know just pulled like mad until it came off and they smashed their heads into the roof LOL

my head didnt hit the roof, i just twatted myself in the face and gave myself a fat lip.

turn it from 12 o clock to maybe 2 then pull hard. if its the rubbery one theres a torx bolt at the bottom that needs undoing to release the gaitor

nah aidy its 12 to 9 o clock then pull it hard, i almost smacked myself in the face, i had to take the white bracket thing off mine, and it snapped, so now i cant put a standard one back on :( which i wanted to do

i had to make a small slit in mine just under the the top of the gearnob to make it release tht bit easier ..it wernt budging at all.
