View Full Version : Rolling Road Day
Was just flicking through some mags and saw some clubs doing rolling road days. Just wondered if there would be any interest from members on here? And if anyone would be willing to organise it?

Thats a very good idea a few have mentioned before
I'd love to have one - but we'd need to find one fairly central
Might be able to get some magazine cover too :)

id be up for it!!!!
was going to ask the lincs/yorks lot if they wanted to do one as a mates mate has just opened one up in Grimsby (does 4x4 as well) & wanted to try him out n get him some publicity.
i'd be up for it aswell not too bothered where its at as travelling is part of the fun
magazine cover is a great idea, giving pgti a bell about once the ball gets rolling might be an idea

thinking about members from all over id have to say topgear is pretty central and easy to get to for most
and last time me and fuzzy attended there all figures i would say were prtty much bang on
only coxy and mackies hdi 306's got weird out[puts
everyone else got what they either expected or have had at other RR's

20-04-2007, 05:56 PM

23-04-2007, 05:33 PM
topgear is in doncaster
nice an central for many of the members from here and directly off the A1 for some of the more southern members
Sounds good to me :)
When would be a good time to organise it for then?

Leeds106::
what are your honest thoughts/opinions on TopGear???
everything ive heard about them is rubbish, bunch of cowboys with a make shift 2wd road.
leeds106
23-04-2007, 07:23 PM
well whoever informed you of such talks crap
i went 2 years ago and ther RR was 4wd for a start not 2wd
the entrance for there RR isnt as ideal as most places but the figures were all correct going from what people either expected or had got on previous occasions elsewhere
and at the end of the day the accuracy of there figures is what counts on the day
Fuzzy Orange
24-04-2007, 12:29 AM
Hmmmm sorry Mark but my opinion of top gear isnt good at all
They dont know how to use the rolling road, a mate of mine worked there for a while
Also they lowered a rear beam that I bought and completely fucked the bearings in it
Bunch of cow boys and I've known them for a lot of years
Power figures ar
e fairly accurate though and it is a good quality 4wd road
Doncaster is a bit of a treck for midlands folk though - its more central for yorkshire/north than anyone else
leeds106
24-04-2007, 03:06 AM
well my opinion was solely based on the figures on the rollers and even you my dear friend cant say anything bad about the figures and thats the important part after all
well if anyone knows a more central place thats good im all for it
cam should be in rather soon so ill be interested to see the gains as well as the feel i get from it

24-04-2007, 07:27 AM
i dont mind where i go, just want my car to be in safe hands...
i know you may think this is a crazy idea...
but ehat about scooby clinic in wingerworth chesterfield???
their roller is top notch (obviously) and the last time we went it was £50 for 3 runs i think.
lovely setting for pics, out on a farm, cows all around in the middle of no-where. easy to find and get to and the guys know what they are talking about and know what they are doing.
i mentioned putting my 106 on the rollers last time we were there in the wrx & they didnt laugh at me!!!!
Fuzzy Orange
24-04-2007, 09:19 AM
Well I've never heard of it but its certainly very central!
mikey_b
24-04-2007, 10:19 AM
both chesterfield and doncaster are do-able for me. doncaster is only an hours drive from leicester.
Jaffa_pug
24-04-2007, 06:32 PM
well they are both about 4 hours away from me, and for one day thats a bit excessive for me i'm afraid :(
plus i aint going anywhere near a rolling road until my engine conversion is done and run in, which prob wont be till the winter now :(
scotty89
24-04-2007, 09:05 PM
i'd hav a look down but not worth putting me 98 1.1 on the rolling road it only pull bout 50bhp LOL:p
G124EME_XSI
25-04-2007, 11:56 PM
the 1.1s r about 59bhp but yea ur prob rite in thinkin it may b a waste of £50 spesh if u ant dun ne mods tht may even change it.
Steve Saunders
26-04-2007, 12:28 AM
I'd be up for a RR session.. But would have to be alot closer really.. Would take me 4 hours to get to Sheffield area... :(

26-04-2007, 11:02 AM

Fuzzy Orange
26-04-2007, 11:25 AM

106nick
28-04-2007, 07:15 PM
Im game for anywhere within 100 miles if my car is fixed.
I'd like to see what its got left in it!
Id come, probly wouldnt run though, maybe make it a meet aswell?
Good idea :D
I want to run mine just to see whether it still has it's 75 bhp lol
lees quicksilver
29-04-2007, 11:22 AM

04-05-2007, 05:22 PM
i've found a place in leicester that will do it for £25 a per if over 15 cars or £30 if under 15 cars.
http://www.streetracersgd.co.uk/
what you think?
I like the sound of that price :D

07-05-2007, 08:55 PM
Sounds good to me. Name a date and time. I'd love to see what my s1 diesel is ACTUALLY pulling at the treads and whether I can get something done about it. (its gutless after 2nd gear)

what happened with this id love too do it! :D
sexy_gt
04-06-2007, 08:12 PM
its in hand.
its hard finding somehere central to everyone ans finding at prices that people will pay.
it needs to be a decent roller, ie dastek - and for that you need to pay money, not pennies.
joe106gti
15-06-2007, 09:55 PM
id be up for that, theres a good one in leicester which is quite centralised (and close to me) but just an idea. let us all know if it goes ahead. if it does, let performance french cars know, theyll be along
sexy_gt
19-06-2007, 07:54 AM

I'd be up for the one in leicester, cheap too. Would only take me hour and a half to get to
mikey_b
19-06-2007, 01:33 PM
yea i went past the place the other day. street racers. whoever is organising it give them a call, the prices seemed pretty reasonable when i emailed them
Put me down, as when the new engines in would like to see the power output.
Il go just about anywhere really.
And with reagrds to Topgear, the rolling road was sold, when Paul who owned it before left and sold up.
Bret owns the place now, and I can say his work is great, as thats where my car was lowered etc.
But on the topic of rolling roads, crack on ;)

19-06-2007, 09:04 PM
street racers, ill give em a bell.
itll be for probably october as weve got the 106oc national day/weekend in sept, so get it away from that so people can save money.

28-06-2007, 07:17 PM
what about this place in birmingham? Just off m6 so would be easy to get to and in the middle of the country is prity central to a helluva lot of people

Although it says £50, they're bound to knock a fair bit of that if there were 15-20 of us

Doncaster is a bit of a treck for midlands folk though - its more central for yorkshire/north than anyone else
A previous owner of my car had it rolling roaded at Top Gear in Doncaster.
The spec of my car at the time was:
1.6 8v Rallye (S2)
40,000 miles on the clock
Raceland Induction kit with Raceland filter
Janspeed 4-2-1 manifold. (mild steel)
Powerflow exhaust with cat (terrible exhaust!)
The car acheived 121 BHP which is respectable considering the modifications.
The new spec is:
70,000 miles
Raceland induction kit with (new (thanks Dan ;)) ) raceland filter
Raceland 4-2-1 manifold (stainless steel)
Peugeot Sport Group N Exhaust - 2"
Dynofiend Catch tank
pretty much every sensor on the engine has been changed since!
Hopefully I'd get 125 BHP with the new mods, would be nice :)
Dependant on where, when and how much - I may also be interested in your rolling road session - although with you all calling Sheffield pretty central - I'm rather sceptical of where it is going to be held! Last time I checked Sheffield was up north!
danvilla2
28-06-2007, 10:50 PM
Yeah sheffield would be too far for a RR day for me, but in fairness to the northeners they havent had a lot of events close to them, like santa pod, rockingham and shakespears are all sort of south midlands and central.
If there were to be massive numbers of people who wanted to do an RR it might be better to split it 50/50 and I wouldnt want to be last!! lol
Depends on numbers
