i have a 106 independence 02 plate, im still learning to drive atm, but when i pass i want some alloys. everything is standard on the car at the moment suspension wise etc.. i know that the 'comfortable' maximum is 15" but im a bit confused about the whole tyre profile and the fact that if you get 15" they may still rub?

basically i want some hassle free alloys that will go straight on with no modifications, spacers and stuff i dont mind of course... but i dont wonna start shaving out my arches!!

open to suggestions too!! (:

if your after some after market oens your best going down your local motorworld.halfords and letting them tell you wat/will wont rub :)

i'd go for 14's then. slot on nicely. or maybe 15's with low profile tyres?

you gonna lower it aswell?

raptors are the Gti wheels yeah? i like those but its so difficult to get hold of set!!

i probably will lower it sooner or later, im guessing this is going to affect what size wheels i can have...

say i went for some 15's what size tyres would i need to fit comfortably?

Raptors aren't hard to get hold of - check eBay or here and ask around. Can get some for a decent price if you're patient!
15" alloys will need 195/45/15 tyres to keep roughly the same rolling radius.
It's a bit hard to say what will rub and won't rub for 15" alloys, some people manage without rubbing some don't but it's not a big deal to sort if the rub a bit with spacers and minor arch work (shaving some of the liner down or bending the inner arch lip.)

possibly a total noob question but what size are raptors then? are they only 14's?

and would raptors off a gti fit straight onto an independence?

atm i think raptors sound easiest... :D

raptors are 14 inch and seeing as ur inde is an 02 they should slot straight on. in the wanted section i had a thread asking for some. fair few people posted so take a look. just make sure they come with decent tyres. the rubber will cost you a lot more than the wheels.

i found a set of other alloys i like Team Dynamics Monza R White 6.5x15" Monza R White Alloy Wheels. Fitted with Brand New Premium Performance 195/50/15 Tyres. Price includes nuts or bolts. Fitment 4x108 et15.

£430 Brand new would these fit and is there anything similar for cheaper?

on the site it says they are correct fitment for my car although in the pic it shows a Gti i can see the offset is et15, is does this all look correct? does anybody know if anyone else has these wheels?

yea you will deffo need a 45 profile tyre, when buying new most places offer the 45 tyre as an upgrade, i know mine did

bascially on the offset front you want anything between et15 and et18, anything thing higher, the wheels will foul the inner arch and swing arms etc. so spacers would be required. any less and the wheel will stick too far out of the car.

tyres you really need 45 profile on 15's

stud pattern is 4x108, cant use anything but

i have cyclones from a 306 gti-6, go straight on my zest2, 195/45/15's no rubbage standard suspension, they do rub lowered 50mm, with people in the back (+my sub which is heavy...)

its not major rubbing though, the rubbing you'll get is either off the rear bumper mount or the outer arch lip, both can be sorted with a hammer, when mine was lowered 100ish i could still have a full car with no rubbing

ben_21

it can be a DIY job, dpends wetha ur confident enough to do it
if you look around a bodyshop or some garages will roll them for about £70

I dont think they will need to be rolled mate, I have 15"s with a profile tyre size of 195/45/15, perfect never rubbed front or rear or even with a car full of people, i guess it depends on the individual car!

you could get away with 14" no problems atall
15" slight chance of some rubbing! I reckon you would be safe either way! :)
