My light still flashes, due to me changing the seat to the leather gti ones and not connecting the pretensioners (plugs are different).
Maybe one of the plugs has come off in the steering cowling?

It won`t set off while the light is on, and it won`t fail the mot either as its not a testable item, but it is annoying so best to get it fixed. It can either be the connection where it connects to the airbag in the wheel, the clock spring which is the bit that keeps the power to the airbag when the wheel is turned, or the connection in the colomn. It will be unlucky if the control unit is faulty but it could happen. If you have the tools then i would take the covers off round the colomn and remove the airbag from the wheel and unplug and plug all the connectors in a few times, refit everything and try it again. You should also disconnect the battery for 10 minutes before removing the airbag, but i generally remove it without disconnecting the battery but i never sit in front of it when removing, instead i sit to the side of then if it goes off it won`t do any damage.
