Most reliable car i've ever owned - cost me £400 and never failed for a year

1990 Peugeot 309 glx - 1.3
Loved this car - it was my mums and it was gun metal grey. It got me into car modding. I fitted alloys and an exhaust.
Unfortunatly one winter I went round a bend but the car went straight on - bent all the steering

Part exchanged it for £900 on...

1992 Peugeot 309 GTi Goodwood - 1.9
God this car was amazing. I paid £3650 for it on a garage forecourt. Saw it on autotrader, drover there and put a deposit down. A week later I was driving it home. It had been lowered and had a full magnex stainless exhaust system including manifold
It f*cking flew - made 140bhp and was an absolute monster

Unfortunatly being young and not very experienced. Also earning a shed load of money, having a 17 year old girlfriend and being waaaay too cocky - I smashed it up 3 or 4 times LOL
I also got 9 points for speeding (3 seperate occasions) and an unmarked cop tried to pull me at 135mph on a motorway and I only narrowly managed to escape (don't ask). That would have been a years ban
So when the renewal came round I sold it (for £900 :() and bought...

2000 106 Quiksilver - 1.4
Cost me £6200, had a K&N, lowering kit, alloys (awful ones) and a dogs bollocks sony cd player
Its the same car I have now - and im sure most of you know what I've been doing with it for the last 4 years!!!

Plan on owning it for at least another 2 years - but not as a 1.4 LOL

While the 309 goodwood was off the road being repaired after my first accident I had a 405 1.6 glx which was awesome
Bags of room, great to drive. Bought it dirt cheap as I was doing a 100mile a day commute to work while contracting
Racked up 30k just over 1 winter - but also got nicked doing 98 in a 60 zone LOL!
Sold it when the goodwood came back on the road

1st car was my mums ford escort 1.6i. I loved it apart from it drinking fuel...

Ended up scrapping it in the end because was starting to rust etc. The millage had also gone round the clock lol

3rd The oportunity came to get myself a quiksilver so after months of hunting I did (Y reg with 27k on the clock + 2 year warranty)

The car now has 57k on the clock because I love driving it! Also got a brand new gear box on the warranty due to the other failing just after Peugeot fitting a new clutch!! Was planning on selling the car before it reaches 60k but I dont want too, I like it too much! If I want to get another car the quiksilver is still staying with me lol

Really not sure ??? I was thinking I'd struggle to get £3k for it, but a similar spec/mileage one sold for £3500 not long ago round here. Might advertise it at £3k and see if I get any offers. Has to be over £2750, because thats what the Rallye cost me and I've got a loan to pay back :(

Bought it when i turned 17 in 2001 for £750 off my aunty, it was the family knockabout and she had kids :P was in a bad way! But low mileage 30k I owned it for 4 years while at 6th form and uni, then sold it to ma bro for £400 with only about 48k on it. Hes just sold it for £520 with 58k on it.

Didnt do anything stoopid to it really just spent a bit on the audio. after having it about a week i went and spent £240 on a cd player and front speakers.

my first car was a 1.0 corsa club 51 plate.... silver..... erm, modifications: well, i crashed it on the 3rd day after i passed - into a wall...... it was a bit messed up after that, had to have new wing, bumper, headlight, wing mirror, wheel arch re-built, etc. Then about three days after that i reversed into my mate's punto, helped write his car off and i needed i new back bumper and rear reflector..... then it got keyed from the bonnet to the rear light, too deep to get out, about £800 worth of damage.... so i sold it, lost over a grand on it in about 3 months! when i sold it it needed new engine mounts, a new gearbox, new clutch, new pads and discs, door respray...... lol, although i lost a lot of money it was prob worth a lot less, the scrappy was the only place for that car!

2nd car - my quiky..... its being treated a lot better than the corsa, but i still crashed it last month..... needed a new wing, new bonnet, new bumper, new wheel arch trim, and new light..... oops! So far it's got alloys, full exhaust system, custom made by powerflow, spoiler, private plate L888PUG...... erm....... and a big fat clifford alarm for anyone who wants to steal the f**ker!

E plate 5 door 205 1.1 in red
H plate 5 door 309 1.3 in white
F plate 3 door 205 1.4 xs in graphite grey. Loved this car put 1.6 wheels on it lowered slightly half leather interior out of a phase 1 (grey leather) Gti and it really flew got me into modding cars.
N plate 3 door 106 xsi 1.6 8v in diablo red did various things to this. had 2 sets of monacos fabric and vinyl momo interior bits standard wheels 15" OZ superT's and VTS wheels were all on in the time I had it had 2 exhausts an OMP one and a custom ascar jobbie bilstein sprintline suspension and grooved discs ... think thats it. got rear ended in that ... twice
J plate 5 door golf driver 1.8 in black - my current runaround
and I've also been using my dads R plate mondeo 1.8 TD in purple with lexus lights and cossie 5 spokes
as well as my girlfriends 53 plate clio in maroon (its red but she gets angry if you dont call it maroon) which has 17" black alloys with a ploished lip a "pole dancer on board" graphic in the rear window (gets some interesting looks lol) and a varoius assortment of bumps and grazes on the bodywork some of which were done on the back of my xsi (dont ask)
Now I'm looking for another 106 ;D

Well there was a van coming the opposite way down the road and decided he wanted to take a nice sharp left hand turn and swung onto our side of the road to do it, so a focus and clio slammed on their breaks.... but i didnt ::) but im pretty sure the clio hit the focus first then i hit the clio... but being a pile up and the last car it was my fault lol had to do an advanced driving course that cost bucks after aswell :-\

i had an 1986 205 xs, never put it on the road but it lived in my garage for about 3 years. got bored and sold it for spares in the end

then had a 1995 seat ibiza cls 1.4, put 16'' alloys on it, smoked side repeaters, 8'' sub. Had it 6 months then discovered a big hole in the floor so sold it for spares

then a 1997 306 diesel turbo, had it 3 months and someone smashed into the drivers rear quarter and drove off, kicked the dents out, replaced the wheelbearing and drove it like that for 2 months then smashed into a kerb at 40mph and bent the wishbone, drove it with about 1cm of clearance between wheel and arch for a month then sold it after getting sick of the sound of the arch hitting the tyre everytime i braked!

then got my 1993 106 xsi, had 15'' alloys, full pugsport group n exhaust, sub and amp mounted in false floor in boot, 206 gti 180 front brakes, it never stopped leaking oil or overheating in the 6 months i had it, no matter how many times it got fixed something else broke. sold it after the head warped

then got my 2002 quiky, had m3 clusters but now taken them off, vtr clocks, ge quikshift, crystal side repeaters, had it about a year and a half now but am planning to sell up mid march

then bought my 1990 golf gti 16v, this is lowered 50mm on coilovers, stainless steel exhaust, tinted side repeaters and front indicators, german style plates, mk3 golf anniversary gearknob, <90 boot trims, weighted gearshift, polished inlet manifold. This will soon be my daily driver

next 3 cars all happened within 2 months!

1991 golf gti 8v, this got broken for spares due to heavy rear ender

1989 golf gti 8v, this was a complete dog and only bought it cos it was cheap and was promised it would pass an mot as all the work had been done. turned out it was not mot worthy so i stripped it for parts

1990 scirocco gt2, someone gave me this as it had an engine bay fire, havnt a clue what im going to do with it as they are not worth anything!

first bit of transportation sym jet 50 56 plate brand new. then i hit a brand new 57 plate lexus IS200 only 2 days old from behind. sorted that out. then went to college next day and it was a tutor that i had for the day sold that when i passed my test:eek::eek:

First car my 106 van. bought for 400 quid spent over 1500 on it (interior was 3 inch thick of mold, drivers door, wing, bonnet and boot full of filler. so bought s2 rallye carpet and front seats for 25 quid from local scrappy) had 168000 miles on the clock sold that 5/1/08 for 365 quid on ebay. i miss it already

now i have a s plate escort 55 d van with 114000 miles on the clock. a little bit slower to 70 than pug but alot quicker after 70 mph. bought for 700 quid on ebay.
