a clean bay is a decent bay....

clean the dam thing, i mean everything...

then you can maybe get an induction kit..

then if you want to go further in the bay game looking into some covers, for instance chrome ones for ECU, Battery, Fuse box.. almost anything!

can you just get a hose and jjjj-jam it in there and scrub away?
or will that bugger up the electrics?

A good scrub as said above and an ECU cover would be good.

WD40 and a sponge everything in site,
cable tie all the stray wires and things and tuck them neatly out of place.

Yea you can?! why not?!!!!

James.G
02-01-2008, 12:01 AM
alright yes you can... but never to the extent of the 16v covers due to them being mild steel.

it is very hard to get a good finish and it takes for ever to get into the little bends and hard to get a good finish. then you have to lacquer otherwise it will rust.. and still look shit.

never seen it done properly...

Get some stiff brushes as well, you'd be better off going to a motorfactors as they'll do big containers of degreaser;)

eazyr

Hose, gunk fine draper wire brush can get small ones for a few quid, covers are also good but if you wanna do that check out badass (some ppl rib but there good covers for there money and they hav offers on ebay at the mo) and there is also the option of cheapish manifold cover or the more expensice version of gettin a new chromed one..

was gonna start a thread on this. mym 1.1's bay looks spotless. all the wires and pipes and plastic look brand new. how the hell has that been doen? yet my quiky looks a mess under there.

can you just get a hose and polish?

how much would a garage harge to replace all the old hoses, tubes, looms?

I will show you mine when i got the car.

Like someone never opened the bonnet.

I got an engine degreaser from Autoglym, a brush and a bucket of water.
Spray the degreaser, let it act and clean it with water but with the brush do not spray water directly on the parts.

Then some shiny thing on the black plastic parts and you will be fine

after it was cleaned:

and how it is now after the strut brace and induction kit

gorgeous bay mate. what parts did you avoid though?

greenpug

Haven't avioded anything in particular really.

The fact that you are not using any pressure provides the security you need of damaging electrical parts.

Here is a better look:)

red would match ur brace nicely.

sorry to keep asking, but has anyone got the official verdict on what items in your egnien bay to put clear plastic bags over to avoid spraying. i know it's a stupid question but there are electrics everywhere i swear!
