View Full Version : Clutch kit recommendations?

My clutch release bearing has been noisey for about a year now and I've put up with it thus far. The clutch itself is fine but the noise drives me insane. Squeeking when it's idling, making "wooshing" noises when I'm driving and put my foot down on the clutch etc. :p So I'm going to rip out the old clutch and fit a new one.
Can anyone recommend a good clutch kit for my 106? I think Valeo are often recommended. I don't need anything too fancy, just a good make with a good reputation.
Thanks.

Vaelo OEM one will be fine unless you plan on spending everyday rapping the quarter miles...

I already thought that a Valeo kit would be the best (for me) so that's convinced me. Thanks for the replies lads.

i think mines an omp fast road clutch and its quality, very bitey tho either in or out tbh but a brilliant cluch once u get used to it and it takes lots of abuse and loves it :)

Pro Parts in waterlooville will probably give you the best price for the valeo kit. If you fancy getting a bit of the fat chopped off the flywheel and maybe a bit of trick machining to make the most of that new clutch drop me a PM. Cheap too, probably only about £25-£35. I've got a spare flywheel so if you want to get one done before you pull it to bits then that's probably a good move.

Valeo, IMO stay far away from it... I had a Valeo clutch in my GTi for about 6 months, that was the longest it could hold - and it hadn't been driven hard, with high rpm starts and such... This is how it looked when I got if of, after i had broken down in the middle of nowhere (basically)...

Not saying that I maybe just had been very unlucky with that particular clutch...
As for recommendations, I'd say go for a Sachs clutch! That's quality..! ;)

Yeah I probably got a bad one, otherwise something like that would most likely not happen...

hmm must of been a dodgy one. I know a few people running around 160 bhp with there cars and not had any problems.
